A must have for beginners
This was very informative and had great pictures with very detailed and easy to follow instructions. It had a lot of ideas, tips, and a gift of ideas to make.

A lot of very good information and fun projects.
The author does like to work from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

Nice book, nice array of projects.
This is a really well thought out book with a nice blend of projects. While I wish there was a larger index of youth projects, I like how they vary in complexity. My son is 11 and has been enjoying this book. We may, or may not leverage it for any specific projects detailed within, but definitely helpful for technique, and inspiration.

an excellent primer
hi, this is among the very best books of general coverage of all aspects of woodworking that i have found in more than 40 years. has hundreds of wonderful color illustrations and in addition at end includes 40 well chosen and described projects. overall an outstanding example ofAmerican publishing at it's best. and detailed contents and index to boot! no shortcuts here! Am recommending itbe purchased by everyone in all my woodworking classes. my collection of woodworking, toymaking and related books is now well over one hundred and i recognize this as an excellent and admirable achievment by barnes and noble et al.only a handful of books of all i have encountered attain this level of honest effort at helping the reader to be introduced to a wide ranging topic and succeeding. few indeed live up to their enticing titles--this does!--in spades!

Great book for those crafters and hobbyists
Husband absolutely Loved this book and has already finished several projects from it! I may have to hide it for a bit because these projects are taking up most of his time now and we have made several trips to Lowes over the last month, LOL! I'm just kidding, I'm glad he enjoys it and I'm very impressed with his woodworking skills! I would Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to make things out of wood or even just as a reference for those that are already more skilled in the craftsmanship area.

450 pages of knowledge
This book is great! Goes over basics for beginners, and has some neat tips and jigs for the pros. Has plans to build projects split into indoor, outdoor, and kids toys. All come with cut lists, exploded dimension pictures, and steps. At nearly 450 pages, it covers pretty much everything. Very happy with my purchase

First Third is Good
I find the projects to be simplistic and not very attractive. The last third are projects for kids toys, etc., which are of no interest to me. -- I wish I'd known that before buying. The first third is basic woodworking, and I found that to be well done and of value. I swear I found the content as a free download somewhere.

Surprisingly good read
A good book that covers some of the basics, but even things you might not of known (and should have), and a few things that might help elevate your projects to the next level. The projects inside aren't always very inspiring, but honestly are they ever all really that inspiring? Nonetheless, a few projects caught my eye, and more than a few pages taught me more than a few things.
