Since my fridge has a door mounted thermometer that only works when the power is on I have these to use when the power goes out. I pull the batteries since I may not need them for quite some time. Once the power goes out the probe goes in so I can ensure the temp doesn't go above 40°F or 4°C in the freezer. Don't have to open the door just read the display. The fridge side I will have to eat regardless so I usually move the most sensitive stuff to a cooler with dry ice and also use one of the thermometers to check the temp. I didn't calibrate the accuracy but even if it is off a lile it will do what I need, for the price it can't be beat. Right now I have it in my small cube fridge at work to set the thermostat that was way out of control, now I have it on target turn off at 34°F and on at 38°F (1 - 3°C)

Very often the three thermometers would read the exact same when placed side by to the same decimal place. With obviously a different reading is apparent when at different levels in room. Quite impressive considering the price.
