Q: Can anyone tell me how they got at&t to activate the sim card? no one a at&t seems to know what i am talking about and netgear is no help. help!

If you purchased from CDW or someone like that, you need to call AT&T business to activated (SKU VML4030-100NAS). It's a different number. I think the contact info is here: https://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/plans/mobile-select.jsp?bref=IB4K25L9210Ams06. The product that Amazon is selling (SKU VML4030-200NAS) is actually pre-activated and the account is managed through the Arlo App, not through AT&T or Verizon. You should verify which version you have.

Q: Can this be used in Ireland? Will any 4G enabled sim card work, regardless of country/location?

VML4030-100NAS VML4030-200NAS VML4030-VHQ which is your tested model? which one should I get to use outside the country?

Q: Does this camera suffer from the same recording delay (3-5 seconds after it detects motion) as other Arlo cams, or has it been improved?

There is a slight delay but it is no longer five seconds. I set the cameras back enough that when a car is detected you still get a full view of the vehicle once the camera wakes up. Maybe 1-2 seconds

Q: Can this use a iPad hot spot and not have to buy the Arlo mobile plan ?

No you cannot, but the plan through Verizon is only five dollars per month. You can also purchase a plan through Arlo
