BastienPiano Basics Level 2 - Learn to Play Four Book Set - Includes Level 2 Piano, Theory, Technic, and Performance Books

Best introduction series for children I have found! Beats out Alfreds, Faber, and Thompson. It's got a lot of popular tunes that I have observed especially helpful in getting my students engaged in the music. Sure is helpful when trying a new song if the tune is familiar - helps leave focus for technique, dynamics, and building confidence. The way Bastien lays out the many principles of music without being overwhelming but still challenging is probably what makes it the best series I know. I've been teaching over 5 years now, 3 year olds to 30, and spent a lot of time looking thru various books and series. Teenagers will probably find Bastien Basics childish and difficult to take seriously but I'd bet everyone under 10/12 yrs old will enjoy the series. Only problem is that Bastien ends well before advanced stuff, have to make a hash out of various other books as students move into advanced.

The books look like to be xerox . Maybe paper back print.I don’t know if I missed specification. If it was paper back I would not have bought .Not satisfied with the quality because Music related books we carry for little longer period of time. I have level 1 books bought from store. Just comparing with those.attached photos new book , old book the one I have

I learned to play piano with this same Bastien series 30 years ago and now my kids are learning to play piano w/ them as well. It is a great introductory series!

These were requested by my son's piano teacher. They are cheaper on amazon than at the local music store even with the teacher's discount. My son has done the 2 previous levels (primer and Level 1). The Bastien books are a solid curriculum that uses the older teaching methods. This level seems to spend a lot of time on scales and proper fingering so that kids are ready to play at the higher levels with ease. Bastien piano basics tends to move faster than most other curriculums. Nice solid curriculum.

This was recommended to me by a piano teacher as a way to teach myself. Clearly geared for younger learners with a piano teacher, it gives the adult learner all the info and practice opportunities she needs. Also, the best part is that many of the little pieces you play in the process of learning are quite pleasant. I really enjoy playing them.

Great to be able to order these all together as my kid moves forward through the levels. The techniques are all solid, even if the compositions for the kids to learn are a little bit outdated, in terms of musical taste. Plus my own playing has improved, just from going over the basics with my son!
