Extremely informative without getting too much in "the weeds". Great reference tool for both amateur and experienced luthiers.

There are a lot of good guitar building books out there, but this one is my favorite. The addition of marketing information and business advice made it much more valuable, and the practical woodworking and electronic content is on par with any of the others I've purchased.

I have just finished reading it, and I feel like I know Leo for a long time ...The book is organized and in a very logical way with a nice flow, with a very direct, objective and fun to read approach.It delivered what I wanted and needed in full: I have zero previous experience in building guitars, and I am currently preparing myself to attend a "Build Your Own Guitar course". My idea when I bought the book was to get as much as possible knowledge and insights on the subject before taking the course.This book does describe all activities in easy to understand (easy to replicate) step-by-step lessons, which helped me to create the confidence to start building my 1st one.Since I've never dealt with power tools before, the detailed explanations on its usage and tips was extremely useful.The book also provides valuable insight for Luthiers, specially the section "Marketing for Luthiers", which approaches the subject in a very objective and helpful way.

I really enjoyed this book. It's a MUST READ before building guitars to sell. Shows how to properly get started and all the legal and illegal things that's necessary for a guitar building business. I build guitars for my personal use and friends, but I'd like to get into my own building business. I'm even more excited to start up, after reading this awesome book!

Having done some research into electric guitar building, particularly bass guitars, I find this book quite helpful, to the point, and easy to read and laid out nicely.So well worth the money and it has given me new insights into the marketing, brand identity, and pricing considerations while I develop my brand and the concepts to go along with it.I'd recommend this. Next is the book by the same author on the design aspects.

As a person who has dedicated my life to the guitar, I recommend this book to all interested. Having been fortunate enough to have gone through a job where I've built electric guitars, I can say that the assembly methods and craftsmanship advice here is top level. As a performer and educator of the instrument, which is how I now make my living, I can attest to the superb business advice, uplifting sentiment, and strong passion Leo presents in these pages. great second book by this author ... I haven't built my first guitar but when I do I know this will be the first reference book I'll grab ... been researching guitar building for fun during the last couple years ... I'm an old woodworker and I'm getting ready to design, build my first electric guitar ... can't wait. This author also has a great website and I believe he is editor of a great luthiers magazine which I'm going to buy. Book is a great read.

Thorough and easy read. About to start my first build. This book covers a lot of the basics you'll need to get started. Didn't read or skim the marketing stuff. Just doing this for myself.
