Adobe Photoshop CC For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))

Good but very hard to read graphics of computer screen.
The book has a lot of information, but the illustrations/graphics are poor. When they refer to the ill. it is frustrating not to be able to make out what it says.

This is not a good book to use as an introduction to Photoshop
I am an experienced Photoshop user, but admittedly on a very superficial level. I have used photoshop for over ten years and it is wonderful for fixing photos. I decided that this was the year I would dive into the more complex editing functions that Photoshop is known for and I thought this book would be a good way to start. However, does not provide clear instructions for more advanced techniques and is quite disappointing. I feel like my money was wasted on this book.

First Impression- Good & Bad, but disappointing photography focus
I will update this review after I read more of the book.My initial experience is mixed. It seems thorough, giving important insight into the 'little things' that could baffle a Photoshop user trying to figure out best practices. But I am left wondering about some of these tips. For example, it is suggested to not work to/ from 'removable' media with Photoshop, such as an sd card. Yet a lot of laptops today use SD cards as data storage expansion, & that fact is totally ignored. I can understand you would not want to work to/ from your camera card, but what about a laptop card? No answer. So it is 'sort of detailed,' yet still leaves you wondering.-The book also explains it is meant to be a 'reference book,' not really a 'lesson' book. Well, I can imagine a 3rd option- a book used to learn photoshop without resorting to step by step tutorials. I had hoped this book fell into that category. But no, it tells you it is meant to be a reference book to pick off the shelf when you need an answer. I think the title of the book should make this clear. Not too many people would expect this to be true of a "Dummies" book; instead, they would expect help to get going with the software, with an explanation geared to beginners. So I find this whole 'twist' on the purpose of the book a bit baffling.Lastly, I felt a jolt of disappointment to read a statement that the book is geared to 'photography.' Considering this is a Dummies book, I also find this disappointing, that the book would chose an unannounced 'specialty' focus. I happen to be learning Photoshop as a fine artist, so I don't prefer a book with a 'photography' 'bent' to it. Again, nothing in the title makes this clear, until you start reading the book.

More confusing than useful, whirlwind product tour.
I bought this book because I thought it would teach me how to use Photoshop. I have enjoyed other 'for dummies' books, but I found this book doesn't go into any detail. I think the most disappointing thing about this book is the images that the author has created or used to give the reader an idea of what they can achieve. In my opinion, I think the majority of images look out-dated, stuff you would see from a book written about 20 years ago in the early days of graphic design software. Can I say it made the book feel cheap? I get that the images are providing examples, but please, give us something to aspire to!The content doesn't really go into a great amount of detail and I would say it's mostly an overview of what the tools in Photoshop do. I wanted to learn how to make an image background transparent and save it in 'png' format - I thought this might be in the book but I didn't find any useful guidance on the 'transparency' page.I found the delivery of the content confusing, it didn't feel like there was any purpose or structure and it didn't give me any additional confidence in using Photoshop CC. Most of the information in the book can be found within in the Adobe Photoshop CC application and on the Adobe Photoshop community pages. What does this book do well? There are some useful tips and points to remember and this is a staple of the 'for dummies' guides. The tips and points to remember are mostly useful. In summary, if you like a whirlwind product tour and a summary of the tools, with a few walk-throughs then this book might be for you. If you are looking for a book on how to use Photoshop CC, then perhaps, look at other books.

3rd Edition Adobe Photoshop CC for Dummies - Peter Bauer. Poor quality print
I ordered this book several weeks ago and it isn't until now that I've had the time to look at it. I wish I had looked sooner because I would have returned it.The written text is fine but the quality of the screen samples is extremely poor. The images are very dark and some of the comparable features from one image to the other are indistinguishable. It's as if the book printer used the wrong type of paper.Disappointing
