Great as always w/ Pendleton
A rare, reliable, classic American brand. Great basic sweater. Warm, good fit, good look.

Comfortable, Warm, and Affordable!
This may be the most comfortable sweater I have ever owned! I didn't want to take it off the first time I wore it! It also looks great and is very warm, a real bargain at the price. I had been looking into purchasing a Shetland through a traditional men's clothier, but found this at 1/2 to 1/3 of the other price points, amazing given that this is from a famous maker with a great reputation and this sweater is of similar quality to the others. Highly recommend!

Good Shetland Crew-neck PULLOVER (not a cardigan!)
Amazon calls this Pendleton sweater a cardigan (which is the name of a sweater that buttons or zips in the front), but it's a pullover crew-neck sweater - and it's not grouped among Amazon's pullover sweaters, which is a mistake.I purchased two, liked them, and purchased two more. The medium size I would judge to be size 42, which is large according to most men's clothing sizes (36-37 = Small; 38-40 = Medium; 42-44 = Large). The sleeves are quite long, and the set-in shoulder falls off the shoulder. A Shetland wool crew-neck ought to be slightly roomy. It's a cool-weather, foggy-mist or drizzle pullover that can be bloused at the waist or kept long on the trunk and also cover the hands.Shetland wool is soft, but it's not as soft as lambswool; and lambswool isn't as soft as Merino wool. These Pendleton sweaters are a medium weave, neither loose nor tight. The wool thread isn't long, so it tends to 'ball' from wear, which is normal; a sweater brush or hair brush can keep the sweater's nap in good condition. The crew-neck's vertical weave 'collar' has been handsomely attached with a folded inside blind weave, so it blends well without looking sewn on. The collar doesn't have that integrated woven look of a much more expensive sweater, but it looks quite good.I haven't washed the sweater yet. Pendleton allows machine washing and light machine drying. I've machine washed and dryer dried other Shetland crews, and I've found that they become much softer. Also, the weave closes as the yarns shrink slightly. The colors are quite lovely.

This was a gift for my husband. He hasn't worn it yet. We like the color.

OUTSTANDING sweater, best sweater my husband has ever owned
My husband is not a huge sweater guy, but we are planning a trip to Ireland soon and I've read that packing a good wool sweater is wise as it's often chilly. My husband is 5'8" has a size 18 neck 34/35 arm length in men's dress shirts and wears size 36 pants. When he opened it up and saw the size "L" he said he was very worried, because in sweatshirts he normally wears an XL...same with T-Shirts. He really thought I'd wasted our money and this was a Christmas gift. He dutifully tried it on though and he's been wearing it for the last two days! He LOVES this sweater, which why wouldn't he? It looks fantastic on him. He said it's slightly itchy on his bare skin, but not enough to make him put an undershirt on because he thinks it will be too hot. Now I am seriously into wool. I actually teach fiber arts and I spin my own yarn. I work with Merino wool and alpaca, though I have worked with Shetland too, but my husband never wears wool. He was raised on poly cotton blends and has no idea why I insist on natural fibers. I've told him over and over that wool naturally wicks away moisture, stays clean longer, is naturally fire resistant and will regulate your body temp because it's breathable, but holds in your own heat. He never could understand until he actually had a 100% wool sweater. He's even asked me about washing precautions so that he never, ever ruins this sweater! It looks so fantastic on him (very slimming due to it's rectangle shape). It elongates his torso and because it's a nice dark color it really makes him look 10 or 15 pounds thinner. Plenty of room in his shoulders and upper arms too. I might him three more.

Great sweater - it's a Pendleton
When you wear this - make sure to let people know you're wearing a Pendleton and they aren't. If their hands are clean - let them touch it.Seriously - size and fit are perfect. Worth the bucks.

Working Class Sweater
Ok. Not as comfortable against the skin as merino wool but to me its fine and I almost always wear a shirt underneath anyway. These are made well and a great insulation layer. I've worn two of them at once without problems in movement.I wash them in the machine in a delicates laundry bag then lay flat to dry. No shrinking or piling after multiple washes. These are great sweaters. I baby them a little when washing but I also wear them for days and days and they take my abuse and keep on performing.Great for camping or travel as you can wear them repeatedly without developing an odor. If you're trying to stay warm these are the sweaters to buy.
