Remember it is a moccasin; fits differently.
After talking with a representative at Minnetonka, I decided to order down, and I am glad that I did. My regular shoe size is 8 or 8.5 due to my second toe being longer than my big toe. Minnetonka rep advised that I order an 8. The 8 feels somewhat short, but not too short to be uncomfortable and somewhat narrow, but with just a few hours wear both width and length seem to fit well. Have tried these in size 9 as some suggest to order up, yet the 9 is too long and too wide...my foot flops around inside...and the 9 seemed to fit tighter in the calf than the 8. Probably could wear a thicker sock to compensate for extra room, but am unsure whether the 9 would stretch out to be way too large. Some folks order up and then place supports inside. None of the moccasin-like shoes/boots I've tried have much arch support as is the nature of the shoe. Really is nice quality suede yet probably does need to be sprayed with suede protection as there is some bleeding of color. Calf opening fits snugly but am sure that this will also stretch out a bit as others have reported. Remember that these are hand-made so no 2 fit alike. I've ordered the 8 brown from another company and may have to send it back as it is too short to accommodate my longer second toe. Good luck...is cute and fairly warm.

Absolutely gorgeous boots
You will not regret this purchase. When I took the boots out of the bag, I just enhaled the lovely smell of real suede. The tassels on the sides are as soft as can be, hanging perfectly, soft and flexible. That's how you know it's real leather. There are cheaper imitations out there, and they look nice in the pictures, but people in the reviews complain of the stiffness of the tassels and how some are flipped up during shipping, and won't lay flat. Some people have to go as far as flat ironing the tassels to get them to lay flat. If you want to avoid that frustration, just save your money and get the real Minnetonka boots. You won't regret it. They fit true to size, though if you have wide feet or calves, these boots may not work for you, unless you have access to a cobbler who can stretch them to fit you. The boots are SO worth it. I wear a size 7-7.5, but only size 7 and 8 were in stock. I decided to get 8, just because I have the ankle booties of this brand (which are adorable, btw, and half the price of the boots fyi) and I ordered them in a 7, and my toes go all the way to the end. But if I wear thin socks with them, they fit like a glove. But I decided on an 8 for these boots, so I could wear them with thick socks. They are a perfect size. Only a bit of room at the end of my toes, when I tried them on with bare feet, perfect with thick socks. So if you want a little wiggle room, go up one size. I got the black, and they are just so gorgeous, I cant wait to wear them out. Keep in mind that these boots are made to mold to your specific foot shape, so you do have a breaking in period where the boots might be a bit uncomfortable, even cause blisters. But this quickly passes as the leather insides softens and molds to your foot. So don't get discouraged and send them back prematurely. Real moccasin style footwear is the most comfortable you can find, so long as you keep in mind the breaking-in period.

Extremely comfy to wear...go up if you are a 1/2 size
In this style of Minnetonka...go up if you wear a 1/2 size. I like wool socks and roomy toe space in winter so I buy a 7 in regular shoes otherwise I'm a 6 1/2. The 7 in the mid-calf boot is perfect. A tad narrow but like everyone says...it's a moccasin and will conform to your foot :) My calf is 13 1/2 inchs and this boot fits over fleece lined leggings. Not too tight but not much that could be described as slack. In other styles of Minnetonka's, like the ankle boots I buy the 6 1/2 to wear w/thick socks. Waterproofing is easy, spray the silcone spray down and then turn the boot upside down to get the underside of the fringe. I didn't experiance color change w/silicone spray for the black, grey and dusty brown colors. Very comfortable to wear. Looks good even though the boot hits at the widest part of the calf so I wear w/shorter skirts plus leggings or Levi 535 jean leggings. Love these boots!

Well made
Very cute. Just a little snug, but I'm hoping they stretch a bit. Good quality. Fast shipping!

Ripped at the seam after a year
Don't waste your money. For almost $100 pair of boots, they should last longer than 1 year. I bought a pair of knockoff Minnetonka fringe boots many years ago. I loved them. They were decent quality, adorable, went with everything, and were about half the price of these boots. After about 5 years of wear and tear, I decided to invest in the Minnetonka brand boots that looked the exact same. I was excited to have a much nice, higher quality pair like my old knockoffs. Everything went great with the order. I received them quickly. Loved them. Cut to exactly 1 year later. I notice a strange draft on my left foot and see there is a huge rip in the seam of my boot right where the sole meets the boot. Mind you, I had only gone one winter wearing these boots. I wasn't even wearing them all the time and I certainly wasn't going on any wild hiking adventures in them, so this is clearly just shoddy craftsmanship. I knew it was past return limit for this item, but I reached out to the seller anyway to see if I could at least exchange them for a different pair. Of course they did not accept my return request, as expected, so I reached out to Minnetonka directly. They have yet to return any of my emails so I will start calling them today. I really love these boots and I think Minnetonka is a great brand overall, but I'm just really disappointed that I paid this much money for a pair of boots that I wore for 1 winter and Minnetonka isn't standing by their product to make it right.
