Almost great .... almost
the slot for the finger latch was not open, molding problem! it's in a hard to reach place so while i was able to open it up, it's not exactly smooth and sticks a bit ... for that reason i give it 3 stars ... other than that it was ok , just make sure you open the bottom and leave it open so you can get the rod into the hole at the bottom easier and this should only take a few minutes to install .. also note it does latch to the vacuum cleaner but you have to use some force... overall happy, it's just not perfect ... but compared to having to buy an entire assembly from Dyson , this is still a great deal so 5 stars for value for money!

Make sure you inspect how the part is supposed to work before beginning your install
This replacement part fit my Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum perfectly. I had no problems with the fit at all. Installation was a bit of a chore and instructions would certainly be helpful. Knowing that others had had problems before from other reviews made my install much easier. This is certainly a great buy considering that Dyson does not sell just this top housing unit but only the complete cannister. For the convenience of others, here are my quick instructions for the install of this part:1. Release the trigger and empty your cannister. Leave the cannister open. I found it best to set the cannister on a box with the flap hanging down over the edge.2. Unscrew the bolts holding the top to the cannister. When you take off the top you will also be pulling out the stick that releases the flap. Use a flashlight and look into your cannister. You will see at the bottom the hole in which this stick rests. You will have to make sure the stick fits inside that hole when you reinstall or the flap will not open.3. Unscrew the bolt that holds the stick to the old top. Place the stick unit aside for now.4. Remove the trigger from your old top and place into the replacement part.5. There is an extension on the inner workings of the stick unit. Pull the stick taut so that the rubber gasket is extended and the extension fits into the notch that is located on the trigger end of the stick.6. Holding the stick taut so that it is extended, fit the stick unit into place on the underside of the cannister top and bolt into place. Test your trigger. When you pull on it the stick should extend. If it does not then unscrew everything and try again.7. Feed the stick into your cannister and line up the top. Turn the cannister upside down or sideways and using your other hand guide the stick into the hole that you saw in step 2.8. Once the stick is inside the hole you can refasten the bolts holding the top and you are done.Hope that helps, the entire replacement should probably only take about 10 - 15 minutes.

Fixed my issue
This part fit just fine on my DC07 and enabled the canister to latch and unlatch without issue. Unlike some other reviews, I had no need to modify the piece in any way. I did have one small issue with the trigger release for emptying the bin getting stuck in the up position. I could slide the trigger down using slight pressure, but it would not return to the down position on its own as usual. This was resolved by using a very small amount of lubricant and working it in by pulling the trigger a few times until it started sliding on its own. Seems to be all good now.As others have said, there are no install instructions. Pull up a video online and you should be good. It's a bit of a pain, but not terrible by any means. Having a latching bin again was well worth the effort for me.

Perfect Fit For Dyson 07 Animal
My vacuum needed this part replaced years ago but I only recently discovered that the replacement was available through Amazon. 15 minutes later it was installed and the vacuum was good as new. A wise investment.

Included Gasket Was Too Thick, Reuse The Old One
Works perfectly, but the included gasket is too thick. I had to reuse the old gasket to seat it in place.

Works as intended
I installed this replacement part over six months ago. It fit and still works. It's a little challenging to install. Watch youtube video first.

Great Replacement Part for My Dyson
I installed this part today on my Dyson DC7 Animal. It was a perfect fit, with zero fitment or screw hole issues. My Dyson works like new again with the new handle assembly. As noted by others, this is an aftermarket part with slightly thinner plastic than the original part; but I feel it should hold up pretty well. The gray color does not bother me. I found the installations tips left here by others (especially that written by FrankY) to be very helpful. As indicated, the only somewhat tricky part is inserting the bottom of the rod into the hole. I did this with the canister laying on its side and using my left hand to feel the proper position of the lower rod end to fit into the proper hole. It took a few attempts and minutes to get it lined up properly. Everything operates properly now.As said by others, Dyson does not sell this part separately. You have to buy the complete cyclone assembly, which I found available for about $80. This aftermarket handle part is a much more economical solution.

Works GREAT!
GREAT product at a superb price! For me, all screw holes lined up perfectly and the gasket sent with the item was in good condition and seals well. Great to get the DC07 cleaned and back in perfect working condition! Do yourself a favor and watch the disassembly and re-assembly YouTube videos so kindly made by "Becko1987". Extremely helpful in helping me get my bin latch mechanism correctly re-installed on this new item. One last hint.....when attaching the lid to the cyclone assembly, don't just screw down 1 screw and move to the next.....just like when re-installing wheels, crank down one screw a bit, then the next, etc., cranking each of the 3 screws a bit in turn until all are completely tightened.
