One of the most thought provoking books in design
The amazing thing about this book is that through the propositional artifacts presented it transcends theory into practice, a must do for the science of design. This offers a more solid path to people in design. As Walker notes it is impossible to speculate exactly how sustainability will be experienced once it has emerged but that should not discourage designers from stumbling in the dark trying to frame the context of sustainability.

Interesting but not really useful from a product designer's perspective
I was hoping for more interesting concepts in this book, but making a clock from fruit isn't a particularly useful application for a practicing designer. Interesting book but there are better on the subject.

Omg...
Omg, this book could be the product designer's bible in our age of environmental degradation. Thought provoking words melted into my ears and chiseled their glorious words into my subconscious. All my ideas of what ID was was shattered by this "avante garde" bro. Totally radical and at first perplexing ideas are presented to the soon to be product designer. Walker flips product design on its head and creates an environment where aesthetics and trends are brushed off the table and meaningful and consciously valuable products are lauded as an ideal to strive for. At first all his "products" are total "wtf is this s***", but the further in you read the more you realize its what they represent that is truly ingenious. The more you read it the more you get out of it!!!!!! Aspiring lads and ladies, this may be one of the most IMPORTANT books product designers need. s***, this book is an absolute treat for anyone who gives a damn about the world their kids are going to grow up in!!! Maybe not everyone will agree but damn it he makes a bangin good argument!!!!

Inspiring ideas for today's designers!
What more interesting concepts do you want?! This book is full of fascinating and inspiring conceptual arguments about the things that hould be motivating and influencing today's designers. In our contemporary `throw away' culture and facing increasing resource scarcity and environmental degradation, we need to re-evaluate our role as designers in producing enduring products created in a sustainable manner, without compromising on the "complete" aesthetic. This unique book inspires and guides us through this difficult terrain (and there are some very interesting practical ideas too!).
