My Hatch on my 2016 Kia Sorento SX V6 stopped working while I was on a road trip 500 miles from home. I was a little panicked and I saw this. Most auto parts places don’t have it in stock. I ordered the part on a Friday evening and it arrived at an Amazon locker on Sunday morning. I picked it up borrowed some tools watched and re-watched a really good YouTube tutorial on it and replaced it myself in about 30 minutes. I’m sure it saved me hundreds of dollars from having to do this at a repair shop or a dealership. Having some sturdy ratchet wrenches and and a power tool to quickly remove and reattach screws, and a flat head screwdriver (to assist gently prying the panels off) is what you need. You might be a little intimidated by the force required to get some of the panels off because they are wedged in pretty tight with the plastic clips, but I didn’t break anything. Once I installed the new part on the hatch, I tested it before replacing the panels and it worked perfectly. I called around and it I would’ve cost anywhere from $500 to $700 to have this thing replaced at the dealer.Even if you don’t think you’re handy, get this part and have a mobile mechanic, put it in for you. It will save you a bundle of cash.

Worked perfectly for my 2017 Forte. Saved me hundreds! I didn’t have the issue of fitting the wire in that slot like other reviewers mentioned, just had to apply a little extra force. The whole thing only took me like 15 min and now my trunk works perfectly!

Works and fit great

There is a previous review mentioning this part in the photo attached. It is too tight for it to fit. Bend it just a smidge and you are all set. It’s quite easy to bend, just be gentle. Otherwise, it works just fine. Now that i know how this latch works and how it is constructed, I don’t slam my trunk anymore…I will update my review overtime.2017 Kia Forte LX

Install was about 20 30 mins. Got this for my kia forte 2017 , after my trunk latch stopped working and didn't want to take my car in to dealership. I was looking on youtube on how to replace this, for 25 dollars I got the latch 2 days and installed. Check to see with it work with my keyfob and it does !! Was nervous that I will had to add my old latch system mechanism into the new one but nope it's works just the same, definitely 5 stars. I will update if anything comes up

Installation was mostly easy except for the fact that the trunk release cable would not fit the metal groove too easily. It’s slightly more narrow than the original kia part. ( replacement on left , kia part on right of 1st photo ). I used a hammer to hit the metal portion of the cable behind the groove and it worked to get it in there. It will not budge!Best part of all , my trunk now closes both will the inside lever and key fob.I will update this review in a couple weeks once I’ve truly tested the quality of this replacement latch.
