I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! BOBBIE THOMAS IS ONE OF MY NEW HEROES!!
This is one of the most beautifully written books about so, so, SO much more than clothes and fashion. I think it would be impossible to read Bobbie's words and not feel happier with yourself and more certain of the message you want to convey by the image you create with your appearance. The first half of the book is devoted to the most important aspects of style - our ability to determine our own individual true voice and the ability to not only accept it but love and embrace it. She provides excellent questions and exercises to help you dig down and determine exactly who you are with regard to your style and what your voice ("style speak", as Bobbie calls it) should be saying to the world. The second half of the book gives fundamental assessment tools to help determine body shape, color profile, etc. and then explains in great detail the precise types of clothing, accessories, etc. that work best with each type. There's great every-day, hands-on type advice on how to revamp an existing wardrobe and how to make the best new purchases and so much more. She makes it simple and fun to think about transforming (or at the very least sprucing up!) your image.I am a beauty coach working with a partner to develop a court-ordered preventative "makeover" program for young women just beginning to show up in the juvenile detention and/or criminal justice system. We feel strongly that many young women begin down a bad path because of poor self-esteem grounded in a lack of self-love. We want to try to help turn their lives around by possibly helping to improve their self-image with some basic beauty and self-care advice centered around helping them see their unique beauty and learning to love themselves by taking pride in their uniqueness. I purchased this book as reference material hoping to learn more or better methods to work with different body types, etc. - not much more. I now plan to make Bobbie's book not only "suggested reading" but "REQUIRED reading" for every women (young or old) that I work with going forward.Excellent work, Bobbie Thomas! You truly are the very best "professional girlfriend" a girl could imagine having. Keep up your great work in the world - we all need you!!

Motivating!
This is the book I was looking for, without realizing I was looking for it. I thought I wanted a book on how to create a capsule wardrobe, but this is so much better. I've been looking for a professional mentor at work, and in reading this book I discovered I would not ask myself to be a mentor, and that's largely due to my much-too-casual and, gasp, frumpy look. I keep telling myself I'll wait to update my wardrobe when I lose some weight, but in the meantime, I'm continuing to walk around projecting an image I don't want. This book motivated me to really clear out my closet and to invest now in just a few pieces to give me an interim refresh. I loved the suggestions on shapes and styles for different body types - what worked for me in my 20's looks terrible on me now that my shape has changed. However, I know now what to look for in a few new pieces to help me look great with my current body type, which is exactly what I needed. This book is well worth the money.

Love Bobbie!
I purchased this book not only for me but for my high school and college aged daughters. It provides solid fashion advice that will travel through the decades. I really enjoy the color charts and discuss of fashion features. Color is half of the fashion battle and can make an outfit perfect if done right.

Decent ideas and good to have all in one place when trimming excess ...
Decent ideas and good to have all in one place when trimming excess and deciding what to buy. I am mainly skimming it though - too many words on an over covered subject - I bought this on a whim...this isn't rocket science...a bulleted list would have sufficed instead of full blown chapters :o)

My new Coffee table book
I bought this as a coffee table book. I like any kind of makeup, style or Hollywood based book to decorate my coffee table. This book is very pretty and I love the bright pink dress on the girl on the cover. It's a very stylish book. I've not read it yet but I have looked through it and I believe this would be a very interesting read if I had the time to sit down and read it. So I can't review the content of the book just more of the style and size of this book. Need a good-looking book to use as decoration in a room or on a table, this book is perfect for this.

This gal has done her research!
Love, love, love this book! Now, this is not a book of pretty pictures per say that you can emulate as you dress for your day, so if that is what you are looking for I would suggest The Wardrobe Wakeup by Johnson or better, People's Style magazine or my personal fav- Pinterest! BUT, if you want to learn more about the psychology behind style and how your outward appearance is reflected by your inner feelings and how your self-esteem can be boosted by dressing 'as if' you are successful, as the author suggests, then this is a MUST read! I volunteer at a non-profit organization that helps women empower themselves through career advice and the effect of dressing for success, and this book has given me so much information to pass on to my clients as well as some 'aha' moments for myself! I highly recommend reading!

What every Fashionista Needs on her bedtable.
This book is laid out for easy reading and easy application. Bobbie Thomas gives simple exercises within the book to have the reader engaged in the process. By the time you have finished the book you will have the tools at your fingertips to let your inside beauty shine through. Dressing for personal success? This book is that and much more. I have already given this book as gifts to more than one Fashionista friend.

Refund please!
This one was bad. Just bad. The focus is on psychology and self esteem, which is great for those who need a pick-me-up in that department. It felt like reading something by Dr. Phil. (I had the horrible experience of trying that once many years ago). It's the same repetitive chatter in Every Single Chapter. The few chapters at the very end that touch a little, and I mean very little, on color charts and body shape can be found in abundance on Pinterest. You will learn nothing from this book if you are looking for inspiration on updating your look.

Bobbie is definitely the BFF a girl can have! Love, love, love. She teaches how to brand yourself. We all know how to dress, it's doing it consistently and to achieve a specific effect that is usually missing :).

entertaining and helpful
working on ones style from inside-out is also a good for taking a mental inventory (of habits, (self-) image, etc) and there is tons of practical advice and how to put all the various aspects of “style” into practice, all written in an entertaining and heart-warming manner - like a good friend.

Detailed and thorough
An intriguing read-so much more than a book on what to wear. The psychology behind dress is examined and explained competently. Well worth purchasing!
