Nice bank for the cost
My 8 yr old grandson was ready to move from the piggy bank he's had since birth and he really likes this bank. The 2 digit combination is easy for him to do and he likes that his little brothers can't get into it (yet =)). It would be nice if you could choose the color, but we got lucky and got red. Not heavy duty, but durable enough if treated as a bank not a toy.

Cute toy, not actually secure
I purchased this safe bank for my nephew and he really likes it. It is a fun toy and good place for kids to store their coins and small treasures. Not the greatest construction as I had to bend the locking piece inside to make it close right but for the money it was a good purchase.

A gift for my daughter
Time will tell how much use my daughter gets out of this, but I bought the safe for her so she could start banking paper money and other valuables. She had a piggy bank, but it was practical only for coins.I'm not sure why it's labeled a toy. Perhaps that word was chosen to market it to children, but it's not typical of something to be played with. I suppose adults want something stronger, like a fire box, or more specialized, like safes that look like books and soda cans, or a lockable jewelry box. But I'm sure it will be durable enough. It's metal, and not plastic. If my daughter doesn't decide to abuse it, it should last a long time. If she discards it, well, my wife has already volunteered to use it.These are very difficult to come by in brick and mortar stores, actually, so I'm happy to have found it on Amazon. Again, I hate to see it labeled as merely a toy, because I'm sure it's much more useful than that, and it seems to be well-made in this Age of Plastic.

good durability, bad price
I got this for my 9 year old and overall it is a hit. It teaches her how to save money. It is also very durable( of course it is made out of steel) and it has lots of space in it ( I believe she put her money and two collections in it). My daughter though that she would be able to make the code on the lock, but it comes with one( even if a person knows the code, each safe comes with a special way to open it. So either way, her stuff keeps safe). They say that it comes in random colors, so I went for a little more searching and I found that the other colors cost more, but I didn't, have any problem with blue. The only problem is the price ( it actually costs $20) for a little safe. Over all my daughter will get good use out of it and that's what counts.

Tiny and Junky Combo Lock Safe
I thought it would be fun for my son to have a SAFE bank to keep his sister away from his money. I regret not opening the LARGE amazon box the TINY safe arrived in. I was already past the return window. My 10 year old son and husband found that the dial does not work well. It's deceptively small on-line. When I saw the ORIENTAL TRADING COMPANY sticker on it, it made me even more ANGRY! Oriental Trading Co. sells JUNK. This safe is JUNK and NOT worth the $13 I over paid for it. Seriously, AMAZON has been very disappointing (on other things as well). This is why shopping in a REAL store is the ONLY way to go.

This product is hit or miss...
I ordered two, one for each of my children. One works well; I sent the other back because it was damaged out of the box.First the good...The safe body is metal, so that is rather nice. It is inexpensive. All in all it is a decent play safe for kids. The not so good...The lock mechanism is cheap. It is a two number combination and the locking mechanism is exposed. If the locking mechanism gets misaligned or damaged, the safe doesn't work. My son misaligned the lock on his and I used pliers to turn the knob. Once we realigned it, it worked fine. Then I showed him how to close it properly.Out of the box, the lock on my daughter's safe did not turn. After opening, the lock mechanism seemed bent and made it hard to turn. I returned this safe and will buy another. Hopefully it will work well.

Good toy for young kids
My 9 year old daughter wanted a "lockable" safe to keep her "secret stuff" from her brother. It was well constructed and my daughter was able to learn how to use the combination lock relatively easily. She loves it and now my 6 year old son wants one. It is a toy so don't purchase this thinking it will be a true safe to store your valuables. Overall, we are very happy with it and it is a good product for the money.
