PASCO Quick Sweat Kit

This is a simple concept that works well to stop water from seeping into your solder joint. Works better than other systems because of the flexible connection that allows work in awkward positions. Outstanding, essential tool for a plumber, or an amateur.

I had to repair a hose in and even with the meter off and the gate valve off it kept leaking water and my copper crimper was not going to fit so solder was my only option. I had to put a 90 on and was hoping this tool would work but it couldn’t even get passed the 90 fitting. Very disappointing. Would not recommend. Hopefully for others it worked.

I bought this with high hopes. Unfortunately, I had a situation with half inch pipe where there was a 45 degree elbow feeding into a "T", and this tool couldn't make both corners (it seemed like it wouldn't, I didn't want to force it because I didn't want to risk damaging it). I will probably use it at some point, it should be handy to keep around.

What does one do when you have to sweat a fitting on a copper pipe when the older shut off is dribbling water? You can try the old plumber's trick or shoving in a piece of white bread, which is iffy at best. This tool allowed me to stop the pipe properly allowing me the option of either sweating the fitting or better yet press fitting a new one on. In our building some pipes leaked where ther apprentice left flux in the pipe eventually leading to pin hole leaks. The bendable ability of this tool allowed me to cut, stop, plug, then press fit a new 90º bend in a LIVE pipe! all in about 20 minutes.

I like it. Ran the 1/2" through a ball valve (full port, not reduced), an elbow, and up and through a T. It was stupid to do, and an unholy nightmare to get it back out, so I'll never ask that much of it again, but it is possible for these water stop kits to do. They DO take some force to close, but if use your other hand and pull the locking handle to the side of the lugs and then put it back in place, you can lock it much easier and avoid pinching yourself. This was money well spent for me, I wish I had bought one long ago.

The handle is built of cheap plastic and looks like it will not last. Not built like a tool.

Works well, super cheap (not in the bad way) why get a propress for 3.5k when you can get this and a ball valve
