Great Pressure Cooker
I bought this when I got sick of my electric pressure cooker, that would mysteriously fail to reach pressure with increasing frequency. I intentionally went low tech, and I love it. The 6.5L size is perfect for cooking a whole chicken (18 minutes with natural pressure release) which makes several cups of cooked chicken and a few cups of chicken broth for recipes. I used to buy a rotisserie chicken once a week or so for use in recipes, but the meat was often too dry to work well. In the pressure cooker, the chicken comes out moist. The steam release during cooking is a bit annoying, but not too bad now that I've figured out the right stove setting. The manual is clear. The recipe book is written for Indian tastes, and has a few more recipes for mutton than I will ever need, but I get most of my recipes off the internet anyway.I like the anodized aluminum - looks nice and is easy to clean. The pot is easy to use, and the lid goes on easily once you see that the lid is oval shaped. Just hold the handle on the lid at a right angle to the handle on the pot. I have also made apple sauce, stew and bean soup. Unsoaked beans take 35 minutes and cook beautifully. I have a 3L size that makes wonderful rice and fast potatoes for mashed potatoes.

Gave it as a gift to relatives who like to make big batches of ribs
Used this a few times, but it was bigger than I needed. Gave it as a gift to relatives who like to make big batches of ribs. Bottom is not quite flat enough to use on ceramic cooktops. These black Conturas are gorgeous, stylish, and they work very well. I've owned every size that Hawkins makes ... gave a few away and kept two mid-sized ones that I use often.

Good cooker!
I don't know why this cooker have negative reviews. When I was a kid, my always used hawkins so this time I thought to buy one for my kitchen and I am glad I did. It's how I remember it. Cooks faster than other cookers and if you follow the instructions from the book that came with it, you won't be having a problem cleaning it. Opening and closing the top is very easy for me because I am used to it. Good size and perfect shape. Love it!

Product quality is horrible compared to the price
Worst product you could ever buy. It's not built properly and will easily scratch. Marks all over the pot started appearing after 1st use. Also water would leak out of the top. Totally disappointed.

Excellent pressure cooker.
Highly recommend. Cooks meat in a flash. Better than regular pressure cookers and easy clean up. I have two.
