Great for homeschooling!
Edit: I originally wrote this review in 2018. It’s now 2021 and the timer has stopped working. The reason: my 2 year old toddler got a hold of it when my 9 year old son pulled it down off the wall. The plastic isn’t broken or anything. It simply stopped rotating on its own. My hubby had fixed it but now it’s stopped working completely. I would still recommend this timer, just make sure you hang it up high enough to where kids can’t take it down. As long as it’s out of reach, it should function perfectly and last a long time. I had actually started using it for my home gym as well. And since it wasn’t stationary, we got a little careless with it. In the future, I intend on getting a couple more of these. One for the home gym and the other for their homeschool. It’s quite practical and although delicate, extremely useful. Especially for those of us that loose track of time easily. It’s great for setting limits on TV time as well.Original review:We got the largest size and wall mount it above our computer in our homeschooling space. It has been the perfect solution for keeping us on task. My 6 year old loves setting the timer. He knows he has 30 mins of computer time and he sets it every morning after breakfast. When it dings, it's not annoying, but loud enough that it reminds everyone it's time for the next activity. My son now has a better concept of time. When it dings, he shuts off the computer on his own and we get started on Math. By far, one best purchases I've made for our homeschool. I am terrible at timing and routines. This helps tremendously. I don't think the materials ate partcularly long lasting. Seems flimsey. But my son isn't the most careful and it has withstood his use so far. I hope it holds up! Oh, also, you can't go all the way to 60 mins bc the red will overlap with zero and it will ding. Not a big deal for us. The only subject that takes us that long is phonics. I just set it to 59 mins.IF THIS REVIEW WAS HELPFUL, PLEASE LEAVE A THUMBS UP. THANK YOU 😊

Perfect timer
This timer is large, has a pull out stand, is magnetic, has a buzzer (haven’t used it since my kid is sensitive to sounds), counts down time the way a real clock moves, and is my kid’s nemesis. He hates when I use it, but it does help him measure time better. I think his patience improves when we use it, and his anxiety isn’t as bad since he knows when to expect lunch to end, or how long before iPad time, etc. This timer has been dropped onto a tile floor (I won’t mention my husband’s name), and it works fine. I like the little legs that pull out for the stand, so that I can move it to where it is more visible. It is hard to deny that you didn’t know time was running out when it is clearly sitting in front of your face. If your life is on a timer like mine, I would get one.

No ticking noises!!!
This timer is perfect for teachers! You just set it to the time you want - no need to go past it and then back again like other timers- and you can choose to have it beep when it’s done or not. I have the alarm option on, and it beeps 4x, then stops. No need to run over to it to turn it off if I’m on the other side of the classroom. I love it! It also doesn’t “tick” like other timers I tried. It’s a silent, visual timer (until the beeps at the end, which is optional), which is exactly what I wanted for our center rotations. Great, steady magnets, too! Love it!!!

Well made and functional
I purchased the 8 inch timer. This timer works well as a visual reminder for minute and two minute breaks offered to my students. It is well made, and stands upright using the two back levers. When the timer sounds, it is at an acceptable volume and duration. The knob is easy to move to select the number of minutes desired.

Using it every day. Relationship with time limations has changed.
This has become an essential part of the daily life of our son. Because he is five he does not take reference to actual clocks yet. So without this product he had to rely on dad's indication whether or not his time limitation for something was reached. I could tell that he did not like that. To him it always felt like his dad was cutting him short or he was not given enough in the first place. But by using this product we are visually agreeing together on time and he is given an objective tool to refer to. Now when his time is over he accepts that whatever duration we agreed on is over and he keeps his promises like stop watching Youtube (which is banned most of the time anyway), play time is over and brushing his teeth, getting out of bath etc. etc.You can use this product many ways and the best way I found is to "reward" him with more time. On most ocassions I indicate a certain red area first, let's say equivalent to 20 minutes. Then I tell him that he can put a little more time himself because he did a great job at x today. However I am not actually granting him anything extra because I initially gave him less time then I had planned anyway but for him it feels like I am rewarding him. By doing this he almost never protests for more time when the alarm sounds. He feels like he already negotiated some time from his dad beforehand and therefor we are both winners in this deal. Without this tool, time limitations felt like a punishment. Not anymore.I am taking 1 star away though because the carton squares with the cartoon activities that you can cut out of the box are absolutely rubbish and unusable. They do not fit on top of the clock.
