Good clear display, updates work, a nice instrument to have when touring cross country.

Pretty good unit
Refurbished item works perfectly for us, beats having to subscribe to online site and have to pay attention to phone while driving

Shows the way!
Purchased renewed Garmin 52 to save $$$ and it appears to be OK so far! It has impressive features but I am just interested in going from A to B and returning. The voice directions are very clear and the screen directions bright and easily seen. Recommended!Additionally, the Garmin 52 was not directly from Amazon but from GPS City, Garner N.C., and was in a smaller box inserted into a larger box without any packing material to secure it from banging around in shipment. Rather poor packing or concern on the part of GPS City! However, as mentioned, the Garmin 52 seems OK!Also, find the Garmin 52 superior to using a cell phone, at least mine, with much better voice audio and map display. As well, frees up the cell phone.

As good as a new device
I purchased this renewed Garmin drive 52 LMT after my previous one was stolen.Although it is a refurbished device at a lower price it works perfectly well as good as a new one.If you have any doubts about its quality you can add a protection warranty for a minimal extra fee for 3 years. What I really do not like is its battery life which is even shorter than 1 hour therefore we have always need to keep under charge connected to car adaptor when driving unless you may use it outdoors.Overall it is a good bargain for this price while a new same model will cost at least 70$ higher. Time will tell if I may regret it but the previous Garmin Nuvi 2589 worked well over 3 years which was also a refurbished device without any problems at all I suggest all buyers of new devices renewed or not to fully charge their Garmin at home with a powerfull wall adaptor (at least 2A output) before first use other vice the device won't turn on.Garmin ships them with almost a depleted battery as a safety measure .I was almost going to return it until I searched on Garmin web site that it will fail to turn on with an empty battery even it is connected to a low power charger/computer.

Good, but very basic
A basic choice. Keep expectations reasonable. The touch screen interface is OK, but not great. Don't expect much from the traffic alerts. On a recent trip, it did alert us to a couple of construction zones, but missed several more.

The price and reliability
This Garmin look great in my dash and it was not too expensive.I like that it announces the names of oncoming roads, street names and highlighted lane I need to be in along with voice instructions.I can see the clear screen, crisp signs and names at the glanceI appreciate the reminder to slow down when speed limit change to avoid speed traps.I like using my Garmin over using my phone because it keeps my phone free for phone calls. So far I would recommend this model.

BEWARE!!!!!
Marketing people tacked on 'Renewed' to end description. Packaging people got it right with 'Refurbished' which I'm sure Garmin has done the 'returns' analysis and makes their share of $$$. My unit however is going right back to them. The first unit I bought from them was faulty so guessing the 52 is a series of junk and my 'renewed' unit will last 91 days before puking. FYI - at least the 'refurbished' unit did turn on - screen resolution on this piece is junk.

I've tried a couple of different GPS devices but there is no doubt that Garmin is definitely the best of them all.

Not new … Refurbished
I bought this basic GPS unit for a trip where I was using a rental car for a week. It was cheaper to buy a GPS than pay the added rental cost . The unit worked fine. No fancy add ons but was easy to program and worked accurately. The reason I’m giving a 3/5 is because the list for the GPS said “ New” and the box that the unit came in had “ Refurbished “ stamped all over it. Overall, it met my needs.
