Easy swap-out. Nice job Protech!
It seems like the photo got changed for this review showing three capacitors. Beats me why that happened, but this review is for the control board that takes the place of Rheem P/N 47-21517-22. Even though this Protech board looks different, it is an exact replacement. The installation was straight forward. My old board had hard wired temperature sensors. The new board has plug-in sensors. Don't worry they have "idiot-proofed" the connections by using different width connectors. My old board screw mounted to the inside of the box. The new board kit includes an adapter plate that allows you to use the new board that snaps in. Holes match right up - couldn't have been easier. Don't fear the P/N change! This is a direct replacement. Protech did a great job.

Easy to install, works great, I'm cool!
The first unit was defective but it was replaced quickly and picked up by the carrier. The new unit works perfectly, I'm happy and cool! Good value backed up by the seller.

Works great
Perfect match for part number 47-21517-22. Came with everything needed to replace the broken circuit board on my Rheem.

Perfect fit, almost!
There was a slightly different hookup for a couple of the wires but was able to reason it out. Worked perfectly!

Bracket is NOT included, you may need to drill out the existing holes
Other than the bracket not being in the box, and according to the seller Rhemm no longer supplies it, all is good. One thing to be aware of is that the original vintage boards were conformally-coated; these do not appear to be. How this will impact service life I can't evaluate of course. It also has settable terminate temperatures for the defrost cycle, which may or may not matter to you (the original did not.) The original boards had the sensor wires soldered in, these have a connector, which also has a ying and yang; the ying is you can replace the sensors if they fail (and they might), the yang is that if the contacts oxidize there can be trouble as the readings will be wrong.Mine (original) was getting flaky in the relay for the main contactor and occasionally would not close which means no heat or cool if that happens; bang on the case and it came on. I guess after more than 10 years I should not complain and the price for the replacement is reasonable. I'm going to de-solder the original's pair of relays and see if I can open them up and clean them up, then keep it around as a spare -- no board means no heat in the winter which is of course a bad thing.

Used it to replace the defrost control board on a rheem rpml-042 heat pump
Had trouble finding the exact board that was in my heart pump. Decided this one looks almost identical in the photos so I ordered it, and installed it without any issue. There are only 2 differences: the temperature proves in this one can be unplugged and in the original the babies were soldered, so that was a benefit in this one, easier to run the wires. And the standoffs to hold the board to the control box were slightly different, this one uses plastic clipping ones and the old board used screws, although in the same position. So I had to drill the holes a little bit bigger for the stand offs to go thru the holes.

DID NOT COME WITH NEW SENSOR(S)
Did NOT come with new sensor(s) as advertised! Had to use old coil and ambient sensors, jury-rigging them with 2.0mm connectors.

Worked great
Board was not exactly as pictured and did not come with metal mounting bracket. As it turned out, the metal mounting bracket was not needed and all the wiring connections on the board were correct. The board worked great and arrived earlier than expected.
