Great book for anyone who wants to learn about colour
The colour/value chips could be better quality, but then again, the book is reasonable priced for the quality

IF YOU BUY THIS Edition PLEASE CHECK IT ALL BEFORE STARTING. I FOUND TOO MANY ISSUES
The New Munsell Student Color Set Sixth Edition James Thomas Long and Ron Reed9781501365966IF YOU BUY THIS Edition PLEASE CHECK IT ALL BEFORE STARTING.A positive is that the lecture notes (chapter on colour) are good and interesting. Useful for theory on colour students and designers, say on 3-4 year art course. Here are my concerns but firstly, I contacted the publisher. They are unaware of any production issues and happy to help and will refund or replace, so Caveat emptor.SERIOUS ISSUES I found.I have spend over day wasting time, finding TOO MANY PROBLEMS.1. MY 5R sheet had UNEVEN INK APPLIED TO CHIPS with pale/white streaks on various chips (POOR QC !).2. The Student resources are inadequate for 2 REASONS,a. Their are no finished charts to look at so how does one know if there are correct ? Doe one use. experience, guess work, especially if you do not have a teacher (also with the book !).b. Some exercise answers are missing ! (see previous review where this was found)3. A whole sheet of chips was not cut sufficiently, so could not easily be removed. the chips were so badly made. I did not want to prize them from their card because some of the surface could tear off.4. The chroma gamut has been altered from previous editions, suggesting possible printing problems ! Yes, the empty boxes indicate colours that are in the Munsell system (as with other Student Editions), but that are beyond the gamut of the process used to produce them, however, basic chroma appear missing !5. Also some chips are perceptibly similar, suggesting these chroma were printed at the limits of the inks/paper used and/or these gamuts were not checked. Cases of duplicate chips have been noted before ! So great care is need to chose the right place.. unless you have a ColorMunki or better colorimeter.CONCLUSIONS.Yes, this is student book but until production issues are fully addressed with better printing and Quality Control, I suggest Students use the 2nd Ed or more useful buy Paul Centore's book, until production issues are fully addressed.Really the 6th Ed has not made life easier.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS issue, but time will tell if I am correct.
