Consulting 101, 2nd Edition: 101 Tips for Success in Consulting Paperback – February 14, 2014

As an engineer with 35 years experience I made the jump to consulting. This boom was provided by the consulting firm I went with. While much is common sense there are useful bits for all.

The pithy book comprises 101 brief lessons in consulting practice and comportment. Especially useful for discussions with young consultants just starting out in the business. It has become required reading at a successful consulting firm I worked for.

This wasn’t so much “how to be a consultant” as it was “what to expect as a consultant in a consulting firm”. Excellent primer for consultants new to the game that discusses common pitfalls associated with the lane change from employee or student to consultant. A quick and worthwhile read for the novice or curious.

This book presents scenarios and lessons that are expensive to learn as a consultant or professional services provider, therefore, I would like to recommend for those professionals and colleagues who, throughout his career, are committed to provide the highest possible value to its customers. If you're a newly graduated, you can take the meaningful case studies exposed here to avoid sooner than later some of the obstacles that consultants and professionals face.

I bought this book for my current job, which immensely helped me to fully grasp the art of consulting. There were certain scenarios that seemed slightly exaggerated and dated, but overall great read.

Easy read full of good tips

Not exactly what I was looking for (greater focus on strategy consulting), but a good read for what it was

A good book to read for a beginners in consulting. I loved the idea of sharing case studies and using them as tips. I will surely read Project Management 101.
