Excellent for the price
If you are even looking at this then you are making a workshop on a budget. I set up a small knife making shop on my front porch so I don't have a lot of space. This is small but it will hold anything I would be working on. It also has multiple mounting methods which is very convenient for me. It's something that I will bring to the main workshop when I go back home in a few years. I know a few ways I can use this. It's cast iron, pretty decent quality castings. It has dovetail ways machined into it. The jaws close nicely. It has decent machined replaceable jaw faces and comes with rubber covers for soft jaw, but I wouldn't count on this rubber too much. The teeth on the faces are very aggressive and will eat the rubber covers if you clamp it down too hard. For this price, there's not even a question that I'm buying it. This was a great purchase and you could get a lot forge for a lot more money. Budget workshop must have.

Excellent portable vise!
This small vise is just what I wanted for small projects & gunsmithing. It easily attaches firmly to my worktable, and is quite sturdy for its size; I like the flat where I can gently tap crooked metal straight again, and the fact that the entire work area can swivel around. It also locks down tight by means of a lever on the side. This vise came with a handy semi-hard carrying case, that zips it and its accessories together, so it's easy to take from place to place. It came with plastic covers that go over the jaws & the table-clamp, that keep from marring the surfaces that hold the vise and the item being clamped in it. Those plastic covers are removable.I've been very happy with this vise, and the only small disappointment was that some of its surfaces were very sharp, and could cut me or scratch what I'm working on. I cleaned those up with a hand file, and now it's perfect!

Zero projects completed in the making of this review
I got this to be an extra hand. The day I got it I was putting a new chain on a mountain bike. Instead of the usual lineman pliers, I tried to use it to push in the pin on one of the links of a 1/2" x 1/8" chain. It snapped. I don't believe this is any great force. The vise got the pin half way and i usually do this with pliers and my hand but actually get it all the way in. I guess never going to a gym in my entire life while eating donuts and coffee has given me great strength. Someone should have told this vise donuts and coffee are the key to strength and a long life.Sorry Amazon delivery person for having to deliver a vise to me two days in a row. Hopefully they live on donuts and coffee also. I don't want them to break. They are nice and bring me packages with cool stuff inside. It really makes my day. Paying the credit card bill, not so much. I hope they have the same diet as this vise.

Only useful for very small projects.
If you put any kind of torque into what you’re tightening this won’t stay stable. The whole mount slides with or without rubber blocks. Returned it and just got a full sized vice. Could be useful for stabilizing for painting or piecing together but if you need to put force into tightening something go bigger.

Solid Little Vise
This is a small vise, but it's just the right size for my projects. It is quite solidly built. It has a clamp to affix it onto a work table. You can rotate the vise to suit your needs, and then lock the vise in place. This vise came with a couple of items I don't understand. First, it has a carrying case. I suppose that's a nice touch, but... well, a carrying case wouldn't be the first thing I'd want to go with a vise. Normally I'd just use it, not take it around with me. It's a puzzling feature, but not a problem. There were also two small bags of plastic parts, each bag containing the same parts. I have not the slightest clue what they're for. One semicircular piece seems to fit at the foot of the vise, though I can't quite understand the point of it. The other pieces are a complete mystery. I don't even know where I might look for answers. However, as with the carrying case, it's not a problem. In short, if you need a small vise for hobby use, this is a good option. It is small, solid, and inexpensive. Would buy it again; would recommend it to others.
