Had to trim it to fit my SX3. It's fantastic!
I bought this two weeks ago, it arrived on time, and I could not wait to go try it out. So Friday night I cleaned the receiver and went to dry fit it into place. That's when I realized I had a decision to make. The forend on a Winchester sx3 comes down on an angle and kept me from putting it where it should be placed by about 3/8's of an inch. I was thinking I'd have to Dremel my forend to make it fit, and was ready to do so but I held off and went to the range to talk with a guy who has three SX3's. He suggested I trim the shell catcher instead. I thought it would weaken in too much, but. His last thought made a lot of sense.. "It's cheaper to replace the shell catcher than the forend.." So, I took my time drawing a line carefully and ground it down with my bench top grinder. Mounted it with the sticky tape and let it set with a couple of big rubber bands holding it firmly to the receiver all week. Took it out today and it was almost flawless. It caught 99/100 shells. I knew after two or three shots, I didn't even need to worry about it coming unglued. After seeing how mine held up, another friend went straight over too Gander Mtn and picked one up. Cost him about a 1/3 more in the store than here...Great product....

Works great - just wish it was black
I bought one of these to put on a CZ 712 G2. Following the advice of others, I ditched the tape that came with the catcher and used the 3M stuff. I like the simplicity of the device and yet it is very effective, and it's super easy to use. My only gripe is that it's shiny polished aluminum and it sticks out like a sore thumb on the receiver. I tried painting it with acrylic paint but nothing sticks without scratching. Now I use a large sharpie marker and just keep it black using the permanent marker; not perfect with a decent workaround.

Works pretty well on my 11-87
Works pretty well on my 11-87. With my trap barrel that has a knock-down pin to prevent shells from flying far, it works nearly 100%. Very easily to load through when it's engaged, basically like having nothing in the way. Today shooting my shorter barrel without a knock down pin, I had to bend it tighter and it worked about 80% of the time. I found when I had it bent tight enough, I couldn't easily load a single shot through the side port without squeezing the brass through the wire which would open the bend back up after a couple of rounds. I had to make sure I put the brass into the front of the port first, which was a little fiddly. I think I'll try one of the clip on style shell catchers, as they are black and removable. The only reason I wanted this one was for the simplicity of loading, but if I have to feed from the front anyway, I'd rather have the removable option.I do wish it came in black oxide or cerakote or something, the bright nickel is pretty ugly on a nice blued gun. Also, I had to file all the sharp edges down on it before mounting, it definitely has rough and sharp edges from being manufactured. It would be nice if they tumbled the plates before assembly.

BUY 3M COMMAND STRIPS/TAPE!!
Bought this for my Beretta 391 Urika Optima Trap. Couple shots and the thing would go flying off with the double sided tape it comes with. I tried doing 2 strips of their tape, as the product comes with one attached and 3 extras; worthless! Absolutely worthless tape it comes with. So, had a bright idea. How's about those 3M picture hooks that have the double sided tape that holds tough but doesn't damage your wall when removing them? Works like a charm! Bought a refill of the large strips, I think 6 to a package, bada Bing bada boom. Hasn't went flying off once and I'm confident the finish on my expensive gun is protected. I've shot 6 rounds of trap with the Shell Catch and only had a hiccup within the first 4 or 5 rounds. Had to bend the wire down slightly but it's totally worth it. Catches the shells every time now. The only wear on the gun is along the ejection port where normal wear would be. I highly recommend this over a clip on shell catcher that will surely hurt the finish on your shotgun. Spend a bit more and protect your investment

Disappointed
This did not fit my shotgun. Reading the literature for it made me believe it would. Product appears well made for what it is.

Birchwood Casey Shell Catcher
I bought a new Beretta A300 Outlander shotgun to use at my local gun club on the trap range. I got tired of having to pick up the empty hulls after each shoot, so I bought this shell catcher from Amazon. It works great! It installed in minutes. Uses double stick tape to attach to gun. Make sure to clean area well with rubbing alcohol. Now I don't believe I could pull it off without tearing it up in the process. Also comes with extra pieces of the precut double stick tape, should they be needed. It folds down out of the way, if you need to fire more than one shot.It works perfectly, and I'm very happy.

Didn't work on Winchester Super X Model 1
I messed with this thing a lot and unfortunately couldn't get it to work right on my Winchester Super X Model 1. The shells either blasted right through the wire or got stuck inside the gun (I could never find a happy medium). I ended up taking it off (which wasn't easy) b/c it was stressful to try and clear the gun (when the shells didn't eject) during a trap match. Also, despite the performance issues I've had, this shell catch seems WAY overpriced (currently $20) for what you get.

Since installing, I have not offended the delicate sensitivities of my trap shooting associates.
I installed the shell catcher with the double sided tape exactly as the instructions said. First though, to keep my Remington 1100 from looking like it had a Harley Davidson Chrome Job, I primed and and painted the outside surface with dark camo paint. As of now I've shot about nine rounds of trap with it, and it has functioned perfectly. Since installing, I have not offended the delicate sensitivities of my trap shooting associates. And it does keep me from having to pick up my hulls up off the ground! Nice! One small comment, when inserting a shell into the receiver, one has to push it through the catcher in a more purposeful manner that if it wasn't there. A distraction at first, but no problem after a couple rounds of shooting.

Arrived on time
Works well on a Winchester SX3 12 gauge semi auto. It doesn't catch all the shells, but rejects them straight down.

WORKS GREAT!
Works great. I am using a Remington 1100, installed it as per the instructions and worked flawlessly through several rounds of trap. It was nice not having to pick up the hulls after a round and more importantly, not annoying my neighbour while shooting. I highly recommend this shell catcher!!!

It's better than any clip on type shell catcher I've tried ...
I would give this shell catcher 4 stars. It doesn't catch every hull that gets ejected, usually letting about two or three hulls through out of a box of 25. However those two or three hulls just drop to the ground so they wouldn't disturb a shooter to your right. It's better than any clip on type shell catcher I've tried on a Remington 1100 using Remington Gun Club hulls. The device is easy to install and I like the feature of the spring being able to be swung down to shoot doubles or removed completely for hunting. Cosmetically it leaves something to be desired and I can't be bending down picking hulls off the ground all the time and so I am satisfied with this product. I can't find anything that works as well for my loads. I haven't tried taking it off so I can't comment on how awkward that might be to release the glue. I was very pleased with the efficiency and speed that Amazon.ca delivered it.

Needed to bend the wire a bit as per the instructions for the first couple times until it was perfect.
Used it on my beretta a400. Works flawlessly. Needed to bend the wire a bit as per the instructions for the first couple times until it was perfect.
