I made up my own directions and they work really well, and they hold the lid up at the high point which feels secure and safe. Like all the other lid support product reviews these don’t provide a soft close. When you are done with the lid open, you put the lid down and hold it to the full close. These are not for having toddlers or little kids playing with an open lid. For a heavy top like the chest shown, you or they could be hurt if the kid leans on the lid while up. It can slam down once passed its resistance point. To install I held it to the side with the screw clips attached and attached where the round hinge is inside and horizontal, as if the lid was down all the way and all of the hinge lands under the lid line. I attached the screws, predrilled the holes though, while holding the hinge with my other hand. I propped up the lid against a chair a little past 90 degrees where it seemed very safe for the person using the chest. Then attach the top clip. Test the lid, it’s good, so repeated on the other side. Keep the adjuster side for the Allen wrench facing inward, when planning the first clip position. Again, I made sure the hinge was fully closed before marking the first side hole, since it guarantees the lid can close All the way without part of the hinge sticking up. I’m very happy with these for the primary job to keep the lid up. Note, the directions on the package will put the holes in a different place, and might not allow the lid to close. When I held it per those instructions the round part will stick up above the lid line. Using a magnifying glass I notice the hinge arms are much shorter than the measurements for the clip holes. I wonder if they were copied from another hinge design. One hinge arm is about 100mm, but the picture makes the hinge arm look like 50mm.

These dampening hinges seem to be very well made. Strong and sturdy. The installation instructions that they come with deserve negative stars though. The instructions are printed on the little cello bag that the hinges arrive in...the bag that you have to rip open to access the product (and easily tearing through the printed instructions). I literally had to use a magnifying glass to read it and then discovered that the measurements on the instructions were completely wrong. If I installed per the instructions the hinges would bind and never work. So I did some online searching and found an article by another customer who shared the correct installation measurements that he'd figured out for himself. Long story short (I know, too late) they are correctly installed and work great!

These hinges are exactly what I needed for a lift up cabinet door however the installation was a nightmare due to the poor instructions. Finally got them put on based on trial and error but there is issue with the one I installed on right side...the plastic "clip" will not catch and when I close the door that hinge falls off the 2 mounting brackets. Is there any way I could get a new plastic part? Other than the difficulity to install and plastic clip not holding Id give it 5 stars.

I have to give this a rating in the middle. It was easy to install just on the product itself. Having the directions on the package is just lazy. The could not support the lid on my chest. I tightened the Alan and it only hold the lid up then slams so no improvement on where I was. I probably need to by ones that will support more weight.

Pack contains one hinge and one bracket. So not exactly a two pack.Doesn't have the most high end, sturdy feel. But motion is quite smooth and hold strength seems in line with what it's rated for.

Used for kids' toy box lid. It is a very large toy box, made from bamboo. The factory hinges were simply not enough to keep the lid from slamming shut. I added these and they have worked great! Would highly recommend.

They do not keep the same movement speed throughout their motion. They end up moving slow then snapping/slamming down towards the end of closing. The cheap plastic snap on clips on the end are also flimsy, easily snap out, and let the entire thing wobble left and right.

It replaces my originals in my 16 Roadtrek SS Agile perfectly. Although the look is slightly different, functions exactly the same. I reused my original mounting hardware also.
