Use distilled water only
Pros, it works well at making real pebble ice. Keeps hands out of water/ice systems. Will make ice pretty quickly. Pretty easy to use.Cons, it doesn't hold very much water so you'll have to refill it 2 to 3 times as much as some of the other brands out there. We use a fair amount of ice. We can get 2, large glasses about 1/2 full of ice at a time before having to wait for it to make more. My previous unit fit in the same space and made easily 5 times as much ice. Unfortunately they recently stopped making that one... You can't just use normal bottle water as most have added back minerals for flavor and healthy reasons and it doesn't work well with it. You will have to use distilled water if you don't want any cleaning issues or sensor problems. The initial setup cleaning process is not enough. I followed the instructions and it grew algae in it in 4 days or so... you're better off doing the deep clean with bleach first or something similar to disinfect the whole thing first. I found a good one that uses proxide instead of bleach. I did this since bleach is a corrosive and can damage seals and that kind of thing. It's big and doesn't fit under the cabinets. I'm thinking about putting it on a stand to save counter space. It is loud, this is my 5th counter top ice maker and it is by far the loudest of them all.Would I buy it again??... well not really... I've had better one's that hold and make more ice. This is pretty difficult to clean. Moreover, it's pretty big and doesn't fit in the kitchen well.

cheap ice machine
it stopped working after 60 days, just 30 days pass the refund date. it make a terrible noise, you can not believehow loud it is. it goes in to clean mode constantly, stops making ice. it was great for a month, then the problem's started. would not buy again.

Lots of ice, easy to use, good so far!
Leaving this review at 9 months of daily heavy usage. I will update it if I have any issues in the future.Great machine, works as intended, low maintenance, reliable ice output of almost exactly the restaurant quality that you're looking for.Reading other reviews here, I had expected the ice output to be very minimal, or for it to potentially make a loud squeaking noise. There were also warnings about not using tap water. I use our tap water filtered (well water that has a small amount of sediment/minerals even) and have had no issues. Its storage is enough to hold about 1.5, maybe 2 pints of ice, which is enough for 2 people who like large cups of ice, or 4-6 people wanting a small-moderate amount of ice at once. It also re-fills rather quickly, perhaps 1-3 hours. With 2 ice-lovers in our household, I've never had an issue with not enough ice. I've never needed to run it through a cleaning cycle, it seems to do that automatically? Its compressor makes noise (and water pump a bit less noise than that, when it runs), but it's a deep background hum that's not any annoyance. Maybe about 1.5x as loud as our modern refrigerator. The only thing that I don't like is that the buttons are pressure-buttons, which is much better than capacitive touch buttons, but I would have prefered robust physical switch buttons. The only (very minor) issues are:(1) There's a very small amount of ice/water leakage sometimes, particularly noticeable if you don't empty the drip tray at least once a month.(2) Rarely, maybe once every 2-3 weeks, ice will coagulate together, and it takes a bit more time than usual for the feeder to break it apart and serve it.(3) Since it seems the cleaning cycle runs automatically, maybe once a month or so, I'll try to get ice and it will be empty, and I'll need to wait an hour. Though I'm glad it runs automatically.

Neat, quiet (compared to Frigidaire) and convenient. Lasted 1.5 years
I ordered this to replace the Frigidaire nugget ice maker that self destructed after 6 months of use. It seems that those 6 months meant we will be forever in need of a nugget ice maker as there was a near riot in our house when we all the sudden found ourselves without one. Now the hard part, do I dare use the partial refund for another Frigidaire and hope for the best even though quite a few people had the same issue with that machine imploding in on itself like ours did. Or do I try the GE which would cost me another $200 over my Amazon credit. All of the sudden this Ice Maker shows up in a search. The reviews were decent so we gave it a try. With only 2 weeks under our belt I'm going to say this machine is much better then the Frigidaire in a few ways. #1) It is WAY, WAY more quiet. The Frigidaire sounded like a flock of birds trying to make their way out of a cage. Constant bangs and crashes a really loud compressor and fan. You will see this in the reviews of that machine. While there is still some noise when it dumps new ice and fan noise, it is much, much better then the Frigidaire. #2) This machine doesn't leak water everywhere like the Frigidaire did. Our drip tray was always overflowing and we had to keep a towel under it to catch that overflow. You will see this in the Frigidaire reviews also. The KBice maker will drop a nugget into the drip tray every now and then but it usually is evaporated by the time another falls in. 3) Dispensing ice with a button press is so much nicer. Having to use a scoop was fine in the Frigidaire, but now that we have the dispenser we see how inconvenient the scoop was. What's worse? Adding water is kind of a pain. You can remove the bottom cover and I guess use water bottles to add water, but I think most people will use the funnel and little spring loaded door to add water from gallon jugs like we do. It's a bit slow and the funnel can overflow if you add water too fast, but it's fine. But that is all I can think of.Now, we liked our Frigidaire just fine. We got used to the noise and water that was constantly leaking everywhere, but now I see that is because we have become a house of nugget ice addicts and it didn't matter how inconvenient it was, we just needed our nugget ice! Using the KBice machine makes me realize we didn't have to learn to live with all the Frigidaire's issues. Now, here is to hoping the KBice maker lasts longer then 6 months!1.5 year update: And it died. After doing a cleaning the system would never stop the cleaning cycle. I tried for a few weeks to get it out of the cleaning cycle but it just would not. I did call their support line and they had me try what I already had and of course it didn't make a difference. The system was out of warranty so they would not replace it but they did offer me a very good price to have a refurbished unit replace it. Maybe just slightly more then purchasing an extended warranty would have cost. So I give them kudo's for that. I did buy an extended warranty with this machine so I have already gotten my money back. Now to decide what brand to try next. Maybe the GE.....Buy the extended warranty!!!!
