Not quite what I was hoping for...
I tried this phone case, just to try something different after having two versions of the Lifeproof case for my iPhone 6s for the past several years. (The first Lifeproof case lasted just over two years, and the second lasted about three years.) The Lifeproof case was advertised as waterproof (up to 2 m for 1 hour) and drop-proof (up to 2 m). Since I've never had a damaged phone inside the Lifeproof, it was certainly functional for my purposes, though I never put it to the 2 m tests. I did occasionally wash my case with the phone in it, with no water getting in. If you are someone who is really hard on your phones or phone cases, Catalyst promises their case will be waterproof to 5 m and drop-proof to 2 m (only on the corners).Things I like about the Catalyst case compared to the Lifeproof case: there is a dial on the upper left side of the phone that turns silent mode off or on. This dial works better than the flipswitch on the Lifeproof case. I have not yet turned the dial by accident, whereas, with the Lifeproof case, i was forever accidentally flipping the silent mode switch, and wondering why I wasn't receiving phone calls. Sound quality while on the phone also seems slightly better with the Catalyst. Another thing I like about the Catalyst is that I can plug in my auxiliary cable to listen to music from the iPhone in the car, without an adaptor. (This still depends on the cable though, as I just discovered on my last road trip - check the fit of the cable plug before you buy it.) The Lifeproof case needs an adaptor, which is small, and goes missing right away.Speaking of pieces going missing, however, that's also a problem with the Catalyst phone case. One reviewer said they'd lost the little rubber panel that plugs all the ports at the bottom of the case. I thought, "Oh, that won't happen to me." Well, it's been almost 6 weeks since I got the case, and I lost the rubber panel a couple of days ago, probably forever. Not sure how it happened. In my pocket? Pulling the phone out of my pocket? Don't know. Very sad. Good thing I don't really need the phone to be waterproof, just water-resistant, but it's kind of a nuisance. There's a little appendage on the back of the rubber panel that slides into a slot on the case - at first it seemed fairly sturdy, but after a few weeks it pulls out from the slot a little too easily. The back of the Catalyst case seems slightly less tough than the Lifeproof case. That's because it's a clear panel so that you can see the back of your phone. The Lifeproof case has a solid back panel that is thicker and more rigid than the clear panel of the Catalyst case. The sides of the Catalyst case have a wider rubbery-textured rand (almost the full thickness of the case) than the rubbery edge on the Lifeproof case (front part of the case). The rubbery texture might help prevent brittle fractures of the case. With the Lifeproof case, I did eventually end up with a couple of small pieces of the hard plastic (contrast-colour layer) breaking out, and wear-and-tear on the hard plastic of the screw-in headphone port cover. Both areas of damage were at the bottom corners of the case. And there was one little divot in the rubber rand on the front of the case. We'll see how well the Catalyst case holds up to getting its edges bumped. One thing that did not hold up at all on the Catalyst case was the front screen protector. It installed perfectly well, nice and smooth, and seemed to have better touch control than the Lifeproof case - for about two weeks. Sadly, the upper part of the screen protector now has a bubble in it, which extends from the little double-window at the top of the screen, down and to the right, past the midpoint of the phone. So much for good touch control on that part of the screen. Also, after only a few weeks, the lighter-duty plastic over the home button is already showing signs of stretching and wear-and-tear - something that took years to happen on the Lifeproof case. (And which was the main reason for me finally shopping for a new case - I had finally worn an actual hole through the plastic over my home button.) It's a good thing I got a good deal on this case, because if I'd paid full price, this would have been a frustrating result. As it is, I can just call it a failed experiment. As much as I like the features of the Catalyst case, I think I will have to go back to Lifeproof for my next case. Maybe I'll have a different phone by then, and I won't have to put up with the complaints I had about the Lifeproof 6s case, since they've apparently made some improvements on later models. Or, I might try the Otterbox Defender case, if i decide that I don't need a waterproof case after all. I've had the Otterbox Defender case on my 5s work phone for about 8 years and it is still going strong, despite a few light scratches from working in dusty or muddy conditions. The screen protector is still working perfectly. Some dust does eventually infiltrate into the case, probably through the cutouts, so depending on how you use your phone, it might need occasional cleaning on the inside. It has little rubber flaps for the ports that are firmly affixed to the rest of the case. It's not possible to lose those unless you cut them off with scissors. Also, I've never had any trouble plugging in an aux cable - the rubber flap provides enough room for all the cables I've tried. That might be just the kind of foolproof case I need. The Otterbox case for the 6s is a little different than the Otterbox Defender case for the 5s, with rounded edges instead of flat edges. The Otterbox case for the 5s is also about 1.5 times the thickness of the Lifeproof case for the 6s, so it's pretty bulky in comparison. I'm not sure about the thickness of the Otterbox for the 6s, but reducing the size was one reason for me to try the Lifeproof case.

I like it better than the lifeproof and otterbox.
It's a good case. Looks great. Keeps phone dry. The silicone gasket at the bottom works well but I always check to make sure it's tight before going underwater. The top part does squeek when i squeeze it, only started after a few times removing the case. The screen part isn't flush against the glass unless i push the air out before closing the ports, there is a deliberate gap at the top speaker that i didn't like at first, but got used to it, it can make taps at the top of the screen to not register if its loose.Sound is excellent.Drop protection is excellent.Camera lens cover is excellent, very easy to wipe off. The flash part does accumulate dust, but it doesn't affect the photos enough for me to notice.Case is ok with macro lens attachment.Front camera does suffer some with this case, not much but if you use front cam often that's something to consider.Waterproofing is sufficient, wouldn't risk it in the ocean (can fail under high water pressure) but is fine for the pool, pond or shower. The silent knob is awesome.Buttons are more difficult to press but not so much that its annoying.I had an otterbox before this, that lasted 10 months before failing. Had this for 3 months now and it's still great other than a few scratches on the screen part from rubbing next to metal in my pocket.Using a ReadiGrip with this case does make the screen cover buckle out if tightened too much. Go easy with the grip, it doesn't need to be too tight, the rubber edge allows enough grip without needing too much force.Like other cases with screen covering, this wants its own pocket, hates to share the pocket with anything scratchy.

I used to love her...
Like many others, I bought the Catalyst case while searching for an alternative to the Lifeproof Nuud. The Nuud has terrible audio quality and I wasn't thrilled with the diminished durability after Otterbox bought them out, so those were the main issues I was looking to address with a new waterproof case.I was initially very pleased with the Catalyst. I purchased directly from the manufacturer (a lot of the reviews seemed to indicate that people were getting knock-offs when purchasing from other sources) so I know mine is the real deal. The audio quality was fantastic! Far and away better than any other waterproof case I've used. I like the feel and the look of this case. The ringer silencing knob is brilliant and works great. I was a little leery of the one silicone flap covering all the bottom ports, but I never had any trouble with it even in heavy rain. It was definitely my favorite case to date....Until. After only 5 months of use, the membrane over the home button tore. I'm not a heavy phone user and it doesn't see a lot of abuse. This is five months of average use in pretty normal conditions. No big deal, right? I contacted Catalyst and after jumping through a few hoops they inform me that their warranty covers only manufacturing defects and doesn't cover wear/tear/abuse. BUT they will do me a solid, just this once, and replace the front cover free of charge. Don't get me wrong, I certainly appreciate that they sent me a front cover with minimal hoop-jumping. However, they're not doing me a solid. It's what they should have done because their product should not have failed in five months. They're telling me with a (presumably) straight face that it's perfectly normal and expected for the home key membrane to tear after only five months of use. Um, no. That would be something I'd expect from a $15 phone case, and straight up faulty design or manufacturing in a $70 phone case.So after another massive round of intensive research and thinking I finally had a winner in the Catalyst, it's back to the drawing board. I'll use it with the new front cover until it fails as well, and hopefully by the time that happens I'll have another good option. Heck, if a five month life span is normal for these cases, I can buy a new cheapy case every single month and still come out ahead.

Did not seal in 2 areas. One being the screen protector
This product did not seal along the outer edge seal as it kept popping out. The screen protector also never sealed to the screen as there was a giant bubble that would not leave. Half of the screen could never be used properly or easily and the other half didn’t work as it should since the bubble was on the one half. Unfortunate, as it is a good looking product and seemed to be recommended.

As someone said before: My Daughter loves to bam bam things.
