I just installed this unit, so I cannot speak to its durability, but it is an all-metal caged unit, and it seems very well built. I installed it over my walk-through door between my house and garage to cut down on the flies that come in. My wife and I feed our dogs in the garage so flies can get bad in the summer.A couple of things that should be noted:1) You need an outlet somewhere within a reasonable reach for this device to work for you. I have a contruction grade extension cord running along my garage ceiling to an outlet that I don't otherwise use. Do NOT use a household cord! This unit is likely to pull some amps, especially on initial startup.2) Don't expect a silent device. This thing is blasting over 2k CFM. It WILL make some noise, but this thing is NOT overly noisy. It's exactly the db that you should expect for what it is, but you can cut down on the noise by securely mounting it. Any additional vibration from a loose mounting will increase the noise level.3) The wires for the door switch are too short and DO NOT drape them down behind the unit like the instructions seem to show. The reason is that vibrations from the unit will probably eventually wear through the wire insulation and cause an electrical failure in the switch wiring. You need to add some additional wire of the appropriate gauge and run them around the unit and to the door switch mounting point. I didn't check to see if this is a low voltage trigger, which it probably is, but just in case I made sure that I used wire that was the same gauge and type as the pigtail on the unit. I used wire nuts and electrical tape to attach my additional wire.4) They don't include any mounting screws so you need to use some kind of decently heavy screw with an aggressive thread that can securely bite into your wall studs to make sure that the screws won't pull out and drop this unit. Remember, it WILL vibrate to some degree, and it will stress test your mounting job.As I said, I don't know how well it will hold up, so I may come back later if I have issues, but if I don't then that means so far, so good.

I didn't like this item . It's very heavy,and it super loud you can't have it on in the hot nights bc it's loud .it doesn't send cold air unless un underneath it . You also need tools to set it up .

Not as quite as hoped, but not too loud either. A little bulky so it's mounted at my garage door that opens to the kitchen. All in all, works great & worth its price.

It is loud but it moves a lot of air. I don't leave the patio door open long but I can now. Most importantly is there are no more flies or bee's coming in! Buy it, you be happy you did.

I bought 2 after running for a while one started making grinding sound not sure if it’s a defect Will run for a while to see if it will stop

Tired of kids and dogs letting flies in the house, I put this over the door. Mission accomplished. No flies. Just can’t hear anything else in the house. So loud.And installing over a door with trim around it is pretty tricky with those little screws on the bottom.But no flies.
