Inner Speed Secrets: Mental Strategies to Maximize Your Racing Performance

A must read for any motorsport enthusiast!
As a latecomer to the motorsport world, I hit plateaus very quickly, but struggled to figure out how to get past them. Enter Ross Bentley and all his plateau-breaking wisdom. Many professional athletes, will tell you that so much of the winning equation in any sport is the mental component. I thought I had that down. But after being stuck at a plateau and starting to blame the car, I heard one of Ross's Speed Secrets podcasts and decided to give this book a try to see if addressing my mental game would help. Guess what? It wasn't my car. (I know... Big surprise, right?) I'm still working on fine tuning myself by reprogramming/retraining how my brain is prepared for and works through the various challenges, set backs, and plateaus that come up. But even early on in this process, this has been a game changer in helping access the mindset I want/need at will help stay "out of my head" when competing. Definitely recommend!

I wish I had read something like this in Middle School.
Funny enough I was looking to read something about self-coaching and improving my motorcycle skills. What I found was a really good book on sports psychology and performance that could be applied to quite a few aspects of life. It's weird, it's like how a people read the Book of Five Rings, weaning bit of nuggets on mastery and at its face value its a book of tactics and swordsmanship..I gleaned a ton of tactics and strategies I hope to implement and absorb into my self and apply to aspects of my life.

Helpful, especially when you hit a plateau
I enjoy Ross Bentley's books and over the years it has helped me little by little on my driving performance when I go out to either track, autocross, or even reviewing my daily commute to work. However, while it is an easy read, remembering what the author says is in itself as practical as you can get. The diagrams are helpful and the "language" used isn't too far fetched that you need to be a gear head first to understand.

Thought provoking
This is a good read for anyone that wants to go fast in a car or on a motorcycle or just improve their technique. Its track focused but a lot of it is transferable to the road. Largely about the psychology and mental preparation to drive (or ride) well. A bit more accessible than Spiegel's "The upper half of the motorcycle" but some similar messages about how we learn and re-program our behaviour.

This book makes it easy to learn
Every car pilot should learn about three subjects:- Car dynamics and setup.- Driving techniques- Psicological training. This last subject may sound a bit strange at first but is very important. This book makes it easy to learn, is quickly appliable and I re-read some sections avery few months just to keep it fresh in my mind.
