SVBONY Finder Scope 5x24 with Bracket Plastic Accessory Kit for Astronomy Telescope

Okay... it's all plastic including the lens I'm guessing.I have 3 scopes, a Nexstar8, a ES 127mm mak, and a 90 f/11 refractor. I actually prefer these smaller finder scopes over a big heavy finder. They do the job, but the view is upside down of course.For the price you get a nice little light finder scope that fits my needs, I like these over the red dot finders because I don't like to remember to turn it off the red dot or else you'll run down the batteries, these of course are straight though finders that never need batteries.Nice plastic finder scope for the money.

We picked up a telescope for our niece that didn't have a seeker scope, so this was just was needed. Drilled a couple holes and used a couple (short) screws to mount it with and we were off and adjusting. Took a bit to get it dialed in, as expected, but once it was it works great. Highly recommend.

Great value for the cost. It’s plastic so you have to take care when moving scope. Had to drill new holes for mounting and align mounting to get close to sighting.

I bought this product to "creatively" attach to my 50 mm celestron kids telescope since it doesn't come with one. Although it doesn't line up perfectly, probably due to its placement rather than its quality it still makes it easier for me to find objects in the sky. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase and the price I paid for it.

No spring loaded pin. Makes adjusting damn near impossible.

This is the classic finder scope found on most "hobby killer" beginner telescopes, those that are designed to be sold but not used.It's a singlet objective, stopped down to 12mm by an aperture stop placed immediately behind the objective. It works for pointing the scope at bright targets, but won't help much for star-hopping. Removing the stop renders the chromatic aberration and field astigmatism uselessly severe outside the middle 1/3 of the field, so that's not really an effective hack for this finder.One other irritation: The finder tube is too small for the front of the finder mount, so there's no hard pivot for the 3 alignment screws to work against, which means that the finder can't actually be accurately aligned to the main scope, unless a couple of turns of electrical tape are wrapped around the tube where it contacts the front of the finder mount, to effectively soak up the slack between the tube and the mount.The finder mount is VERY flimsy, so even with the tape added, alignment is difficult because the mount flexes significantly under the relatively mild torque of turning the alignment screws. It can be done, but it's more tedious than it should be.It's one redeeming quality, the one I bought it for, is that it's very light compared to the vastly superior 6x30 finders sold on "non-hobby-killer scopes" (The Orion XT4.5 comes to mind. Actually, that scope comes with a very good 5x25), and reaches slightly dimmer than naked eye stars, making it a somewhat functional step up to a red-dot finder when naked-eye stars are limited due to observing conditions such as light pollution and/or haze. Such light-weight finders are nice for replacing the red-dot finders on fixed-pivot scopes, such as the (excellent) Zhumell 76mm Newt.You get what you pay for, this is a very inexpensive finder, and it behaves consistent with it's price. I'd be happy to pay a few more dollars for this exact setup if it were to include a (functional) doublet and no aperture stop. Everything else can be dealt with.

This is a well made lightweight finder for small scopes. 5x24 finders have their limitations, such as a narrow field of view and short eye relief. I've tried several of them, and this one is about the same. The straight through 5x24 finders have a bit wider field of view than the right angle 5x24's. The SVBONY 5x24 finder is a better deal at $10, compared to other 5x24 finders costing more. It's also a good source of parts for making a homemade do-it-yourself finder.
