Simple, effective, great results
You gotta keep on top of your dry matter because this thing MELTS kitchen scraps fast.We added a few scoops of yard soil with earth worms. Now it's just an amazing worm bin.a few drawbacks:* A LOT of nuts and bolts to assemble, just takes a while and requires patience and dexterity.* frame seems like it is a bit thin for the size of the bin* frame does not lock together, so if you try to move it when it is heavy and if the legs fall off, you are likely going to have a bad time

Disappointing quality - avoid this particular unit.
Misrepresented description. Says, "MOLDED IN THE USA" and I fell for it. It's obviously a cheap, poor quality import that's anyone's guess as to exactly what "molded.... " really is - it certainly implies that it's an American product but I highly doubt that.I chose this particular product because of the size, made in USA and the description of "...step-by-step instructions for quick, easy assembly." I opened the box and found dozens of small black nuts and bolts strewn all over the bottom. Quick, easy assembly? No. I picked up as many as I could by hand then used a magnet to fetch the rest and used a magnetic tray to keep everything together.I began assembly of the shells. I'm very handy and work quickly but lining up the holes and putting everything together properly is neither quick, nor easy. Once you have the two halves assembled they need to be nut and bolted to each other with the spindle in the middle. At first I tried using golf tees to line up the holes and eventually settled on vise grip style clamps. The holes do not line up as they should and I dare anyone with an honest opinion to say this is "quick and easy assembly".Further, the stand is flimsy and the poles that you insert don't lock. So when you build this unit in your garage and walk around back to put it in the garden the poles drop and clang along the way. After reassembling the poles and placing the unit where I wanted I filled with material - dried leaves and dead plants from this seasons growing....so it was not heavy. The poles appear to be strained and are crooked. I suppose it will work as intended but that remains to be seen. I don't think this will be a long lasting unit - or I may have to fabricate a stand when these poles give out.I buy many things on Amazon and usually either satisfied or very satisfied. This is the first time I can remember buying something where the description was deceptive. I took the time to write this because whoever is considering buying this item should know the truth. Amazon should revise this description and say "There are 84 nuts and 84 bolts that are necessary to assemble this item. (the count is a guess) You will need a socket and a screw driver and probably 30 to 45 minutes for the average person to assemble...." You could go on from there about the the poles. Finally the natural question is why didn't I return it? I had already prepped the garden to do it this weekend. The item arrived Friday night and wanted to get this done. I didn't want to the hassle of repacking and going to UPS and then having to find another unit and waiting until next weekend to finish my project. My advice is to avoid this particular unit. Hopefully Amazon will revise the description.

Needs a better lid system with handles
I just received this yesterday and set it so I can't yet speak to its efficacy but aside from a LOT of nuts and bolts to attach the set up was simple. My biggest complaint and it may be important down the line - the lids are difficult to turn to close them and it would greatly have benefitted by a handle. I am currently thinking of how I might accomplish adding a simple handle that will help to make it easier to open and close. The tabs and slots are quite fiddly and I have not been able to get either end to close smoothly. It does seem it will work okay and I have placed it in a covered area and hope to be able to empty it into a large tub that I can move on a dolly.Up until now I have just done a passive compost system of throwing kitchen waste off my deck into one area and allowing it to break down. If I have to wait for a full bin to break down I will have nowhere to add waste until that happens unless I just empty it into the tub and allow it to continue breaking down. I agree with another reviewer that the container does not seem to be 60 gallons but for me perhaps that is okay as I am not sure how I will be able to handle the weight of that much material. I will check though, just to be sure this wasn't a case of false advertising.Additional information after first emptying of bin:Pros: The compost mix looks great. I layer kitchen scraps with yard waste and what came out was very nice. It still needs to break down a bit more in the tub where I emptied it, but I am very pleased with the compost.Cons: The bin is VERY heavy to turn over and without support it seems a bit flimsy. I was still able to turn it and the material mixes well. Today I tried to empty it and here was the problem. I had hoped to empty it directly into a tub but that couldn't happen unless the composter was lifted higher and the I wouldn't be able to reach it to fill it. I ended up finding a heavy plastic which I placed under it and could only empty out a bit at a time. I then needed to pull the plastic with mulch from under the bin and shovel it into the tub I had standing by. Process was then repeated until the bin was emptied. This is not easy for a relatively short woman. I would like to know how others have solved these problems.I am relatively happy with the results but the design could use some improvement although I haven't been able to figure out a suggestion. I could ideally put it near where I would like the product to be emptied but in our rainy climate I need to be able to empty my kitchen scrap bin easily without being rained on or traipsing through mud. I did see a similarly designed bin locally at a hardware store but it was smaller. Now that I see how it works, the smaller one might have been a better option but I definitely like the metal tumble bar inside and the alternative bin did not have that.

I like this composter very much
I like this composter very much. It takes a while to assemble but only because it uses many bolts to assure good strength. It is easy to assembly just time consuming. The stand seems very strong and is powder coated for rust resistance. I like this design over the horizontal type. You have access to both top and bottom. It can be heavy to turn as it gets full but this is just because it does hold a lot. It seems like it will last a long time.

Poorly design, overpriced
I have the Suncast tumbler and got this one as a second bin based on the two recommendations and that it's made in the US. The quality is fine but the design is really poor. It's only slightly easier to assemble than the Suncast, but there are no mixing tines in the barrel to help mix the compost as it is tumbled, no lock to keep the barrel upright, and no cross bar between the legs for stability. If the bin had been $20 or $30 cheaper than the Suncast it would seem right. But having paid $30 more I am very disappointed. The only reason I didn't send it back was that I had unpacked everything and build half of it before I realized that it wasnt very good.[Edit: now that I am using it, I also realized that the top can't be opened one-handed like some of the others. I really wish I had sent it back and gotten a better designed one.]
