Great sound. Insane value.
I picked these up on a holiday sale and I am very impressed. They are cleaner and fuller sounding than my KRK Classic 5 (which are the same size). Very accurate and detailed across the spectrum with a wide sweet spot. You could use these to fill up a room with sound, but of course with their balanced-only inputs they are really meant for studio work. JBL makes great stuff and has done so for decades. This is one of their best products considering the unbelievable value.

Studio monitors, very close to FRFR!
Typical JBL build quality! Solid, robust and just well put together, with awesome audio quality.. In that category there are a lot of players, but JBL has a handle on studio monitors and full range flat response monitors since forever. These are no exception.I needed a pair of studio monitors with as close to FRFR as I could get... This was to use for my guitar and modeling amps, which require this type of product. These are not speakers for typical audio system, but rather designed as studio monitors and really more for this type of application. They're very close to my Yamaha HS8's, which are as close to FRFR as one can get, but they're a bit smaller, more compact with a bit less bass, and under half the price. I needed something more portable as I'm going to use these when I travel. They fit the bill and are very accurate in terms of sound reproduction.Highly recommended

Excellent speakers for a fantastic price.
These speakers sound incredible. I use them for everything—composing music, listening to music, watching movies & videos, gaming, etc. and they have been nothing short of perfect for this price. The bass could be a bit more accurate but that’s what a subwoofer is for. And even with that said, the bass is surprisingly accurate for a speaker of this size. I haven’t had any sound issues, and there is no crackle after turning down the volume on each speaker to a reasonable level. I also have to mention that I’m a big fan of the sleek, understated design.I’m not sure why other reviews mention an annoying startup sound. I bought these thinking that would be the case, but the speakers I received are silent on startup.

Great sound quality. Acceptable bass.
Yes, the Yamaha have better sound quality but you need an EQ and sub in my experience. These are perfect for my bedroom basic studio where I mainly listen to music, play video games, and make music. Very happy with this purchase.

Hiss & Pop to Wonderful Upgrade
I am a hobbyist audio guy who does a bit of mixing for random projects (both spoken and music). I purchased these to use as my main computer speakers, to upgrade from my cheaper Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, to something I might actually be able to mix on (previously I could only mix on headphones - Sony MDR-7506).After receiving the speakers, I plugged them into my computer via the basic 3.5mm audio output, and in to the speakers with a split 1/4". There was a TREMENDOUS amount of hissing, popping, crackling, and headache inducing noise. To get it down to a bearable level, I had to turn the speaker volume down to at least 4 (and on +4 dbu), but then my computer volume needed to be maxed out in order to get even a modest amount of volume. And I could still hear the noise if I tried. So, I went looking for a solution.First, the problem: electrical noise from the computer/motherboard (not bad speakers). I read a lot online about trying the same or different surge protectors and such, but I didn't want to do that dance. Another recommended using the optical output instead of the 3.5mm, which shouldn't transfer the motherboard noise. Great, I have an optical output too, but that's a digital output. So, I had to buy a digital to analogue audio converter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AWBA8U8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). So now the flow is this, from the computer:Optical out, into the converter, RCA out, over an RCA to 1/4" cable, into the speakers as 1/4".Perfection! Now I can run the speakers maxed (volume 10, -10 dbv), to give me the largest volume potential from my PC volume. Now, I might crank up my PC to 60% volume for loud critical listening, but most of the time have it at 30-40% for comfortable listening (so no more volume problems either), with absolutely no noise/crackling/popping.These speakers were a great upgrade for me, and I do think they're good enough to mix on if I so choose. I will likely be adding the sub soon too.I love 'em, and for the price, I think they're hard to beat. If you're getting hissing/popping, don't give up! There's great sound on the horizon!UPDATE: The sub is definitely worth doubling your expense. I'm loving this setup.

Best monitors for the price
Best studio monitors in the price range hands down. Absolutely outclasses the Yamahas Im dead serious. "Audiophiles" may argue otherwise but producers never take them seriously for a reason.
