Very cute. Fun but not super easy.
I really enjoyed doing this one! But it was definitely a lot harder than I thought. There was a lot of color changes due to the effect of splattered paint all over the paint. Overall I liked it. I will say that the yellows and some of the red / magenta colors are a tad see through and need multiple coats which I didn’t love, therefore making the yellow cats eyes not stand out. Cute painting. I’ve put it next to the other painting I did from the same artist

No box?
This is my second paitn by number kit I have bought from this company. The first one came in an actual box. Which makes it great for gift giving. This one was just in cellophane. Probalby should have read description better. But thought it would be packed like the other. Oh well. Nice paint set though.

Needs a Number Guide
I was disappointed that there was no paper with the image of the painting with the numbers on it, to use as a cheat sheet.. It is difficult to go back and paint areas where the numbers were covered and not visible. I had hoped it came in a tube, instead it came folded up in a plastic bag.

Nice kit, but NOT for younger kids.
I received the Perkisboby DIY Paint by Numbers Kit, Canvas Oil Painting Kits with Acrylic Pigment & 6 Brushes for Kids Adults, 16" W x 20" L Five Colorful Cat in exchange for this review. My daughter (age 18) and I both enjoy doing arts and crafts projects. So when the chance to try a paint by numbers kit came up, we decided to try one. (We usually do more traditional paintings from scratch, but loved the image of this finished project, so wanted it in our house) The first thing to know: The kit comes with the canvas pre-printed with the paint by numbers image, but it is NOT mounted (listing states this) when painting on canvas, it needs to be mounted to "Stretcher bars" or some other surface to stabilize it (I actually stretched ours over an unused, but damaged pre-stretched craft canvas of the proper size that we already owned..another option would be to wrap and tape to a piece of board or foam core, for example, for an inexpensive but suitable solution, either of these will mount into a frame nicely.) Since it is folded in the package, you will also need to press the creases out (From the back!) before attaching it to your base. The second thing to note: Since the final painting is a VERY detailed picture, the canvas has HUNDREDS of very tiny sections to be filled in (Though they also give you tiny tipped brushes to help in this matter!) The third thing to remember: Since these cats are one in front of another, to get that same appearance in your finished art, you need to work from "Back to front" so first do the background sections, and let that dry, then do each cat individually, starting with the eyes (So they don't sit on top of the fur around them) and working from the furthest back parts to the frontmost (nose and whiskers) then let that cat dry, and work forward with each cat, making each one overlap the edges of the cat behind it. (We kept the finished image beside the easel at all times to help in finding what spot should come next)4th, and the most important thing to know: The paint pots are TINY...and you get the same amount for each color. We needed to get more paint in MANY of the colors to have enough for the background, the black cat's fur, and any other main color. This meant a trip to the craft store WITH the paint set to match them...in one case there was no exact match, so we had to swap for a near match. (This is part of the big reasons it is only a 3-star review...if it needs a LOT of a certain color, it should have enough of that paint!) The numbers can be rather tiny, so you will possibly want to keep a magnifying glass on hand to help you read them. ( I am older and needed one, my daughter, not so much.) Since this is a more than slightly detailed painting, with MANY different colors and tiny sections to be carefully filled in, I wouldn't buy this for anyone under the age of 13, or anyone without a lot of patience, but if you are like my daughter and I (We took turns working on sections of this painting) and like to "zen out" with some music and a paintbrush, this is a fun project!

Not a Great Kit...But I do Like the Artwork
I'm almost finished this painting, but since have ordered another similar kit so can kind of compare. And this fails for me on a number of issues.1. It doesn't include a key to the canvas, so that you have to be really careful not to accidentally cover up numbers. This is particularly hard since not all the numbers are fully within their areas due to how narrow a lot of them are.2. Biggest complaint is that I ran into quite a few that are very obviously the WRONG numbers! Unfortunately I didn't discover this until I'd already painted a number of incorrect colors, but by comparing to the photo was I able to figure out what the color *should* be. In a lot of cases it would be something like a 2 in an area that should be labeled as a 12. Having the WRONG numbers on a paint-by-number is a pretty big issue, and the reference photo that is provided is so tiny it isn't much help at all (I actually would pull up the photo of the painting on this page to use instead, but it's not particularly detailed either). Would it be *that* hard to provide a decent sized reference photo to use?? It would literally cost only a few cents to provide a larger one to use. The one plus is that the design of this with all the scattered paint spots did help to make the mistakes not as obvious as they might be on a different painting.3. This is a standard issue it seems with these paintings, but the canvas comes folded with big creases in it. But no instructions on if it's safe to iron it to get them out (apparently it is but too late now since I already painted it). Had they included any instructions with it, I'd have known it would be okay to iron those out before painting it.4. The brushes are poor quality and not well suited for the detail of painting needed. Again, common with these kits, but very annoying that you really need to go out and get some better brushes and particularly really fine brushes to handle the detail needed.5. Not enough of some colors. As I'm getting closer to finishing it, I'm running out of some colors and not sure I'll be able to stretch them out enough to complete it. This is unacceptable, providing even a small amount of additional paint would ensure you would not possibly run out. This is definitely a challenging painting and NOT for young kids, make sure you keep the photo nearby if you decide to get it and don't rely just on the numbers in terms of painting it. I personally taped mine to a board and set it up on an easel to paint as leaning over a table to paint is way too hard on my back. But most of all, I'd suggest starting with the largest color blocks which are easiest to match to the photo and then working your way out from those, making sure that the colors referenced by the numbers make sense for what you are painting there.
