It's a weight........it adds weight.
Bought this as an added weight for my SA2i. Since the single weight it comes with is not sufficient to balance my Sigma 150-600mm contemporary. This balanced it perfectly with weight to spare so possibly I could add a guide scope in the future

AZ-GTi Mount Buyer Beware!
The rod requires a mount with M8 threads, so if you want to use this with a Sky Watcher AZ-GTi mount outfitted with a latitude base to operate in equatorial mode, you have to separately purchase an M8 to M12 thread adapter (these typically come bundled in packs of 6 for $10 from an independent supplier). How nearsighted of Sky Watcher not to include this little thread adapter in their counter weight kit for something that can’t cost more than $1.50 for a single fitting.
