This pricing is a crock
So, am I the ONLY one who feels that when we, as the valued customer" committed to buy X number of items via the Prime Subscription program that we should be buying them 6 months from now at the same price that we sub up for? Seriously, if the price goes up from the company - WHO CARES we committed to AMAZON to buy them 2 or 4 or 6 per month at 8.99 per item (was the cost of this item but not universally so merely a # for show). Doesn't that, or rather, shouldn't that in turn put Amazon on the same page as we are?? If they are just fishing for the steady sale here then why are we paying a yearly price for PRIME if the only left that we still get without paying extra for is Free Shipping?? This filter, Tetra EX 70 in my case, is a heck of a filter. SO MUCH SO, that they will go thru filter carts at almost twice the rate of a filter of = GPH flow. That is great right? NO IT SUCKS!!! Why? Well, frankly put, the ONLY reason I went seeking a new filter wasn't due to my Marineland 350-450s not meeting the need but because some moron decided that the 6 and 4 pk cart boxes needed to change prices from 6-8 $$ per box (my sub for these was 5.89 6pk and 6.00 on 4pk to the tune of 6 each per month) to well over triple that price for at least 3 months. It was while reading my statement just after the 2nd month of "price changes" had been charged to me and the items shipped that I discovered my total was NOT $75 for my monthly power filter media as it had been via my sub to Amazon for well over a year. Instead, I see billed to my account $220 for this the current and second month... Then I look at the month prior, which I still say that I should never have needed to do as It was called a SUBSCRIPTION and when I subscribe to... well... absolutely ANYTHING else in the world it is at the Agreed upon pricing. AND YES to those who just thought "would you still be crying about this is the price went down" That would be on us to deal with because yes WE agreed to the monthly sub of $8... if the cost goes to $20 (as in this case and in point of fact is up to $30+) that isn't my problem because Amazon offered the subscription to us at $8 if we agreed to buy X per month. Same rules apply for us... if the price drops to $4 than that is NOT their problem because we agreed to pay $8... Since either party can cancel at any time then it seems to me the solution, instead of charging me over $200 for what I have been paying $75 for over 15 months past - Amazon needs to cancel our subscriptions if they don't intend to honor their end of it... or they need to call it by a name that makes it obvious that it isn't for our convenience but theirs that we are being offered a "SUB" price point. What did all of that have to do with these??? Because here I am 4-5 months later, after having purchased 4 of their filters, and having increased the amount of the cart. subs each time I added another filter... These things only stayed at their 8.99 cost to the consumer for 3 months. Here they jumped to 14.99.. and there are currently prime offers for them at 12.99 which is where I would have been stuck paying HAD I SUBBED FOR REELZ but I chose to manually order and pay for all but one 4pk box of these. $8.54 and paid $8.99 for the other 4 boxes until the 12.99 jump... then I went elsewhere for the 10.54 price that has been that way since product release and is still only 10.99 right this moment. However just this month a seller came back with 8.99 or 8.54 sub price.I hope that all of my tail chasing above and that spattering of numbers across your frontal lobe has made my point, or will make it with this.I am disabled and as my disability is such that makes driving, really at all, for any distance to shop for basic needs and yes hobby/pet needs also - I tend to order a butt-ton of things. I have stopped using their subscription feature here for almost everything due to the fact of it not being conducive to the needs of anyone that is on a fixed income. We may have had the leisure in the past of not caring how much things like filter cartridges cost us and, I know that I for one and guilty of just throwing cash at everything, may have never once even looked at the price tag of a thing. NOW - eating is done on a budget - and all of those pizzas or bags of snacks we used to have around - those aren't in the plan.If these companies honestly think that the bulk of consumers are REALLY the cattle they think us to be - they are sadly mistaken. The cost to make this filter has not increased to double just like the cost of the C and E carts from marineland didn't increase to over triple. What did happen - is that the quality of the materials in both cartriges and in the boxes they are packaged in for sale have gone down. The companies have lowered the quality of the product in the case of these filters there is less carbon (fine by me) and the floss cart itself isn't as stiff - it fails to hold up to the flow of the filter as well as they did 4-5 months ago. Why does that matter? Easy. I am paying more for something that now either gives way to the water flow of the larger EX filters OR.. this one REALLY thrilled me when it happened... The carts are placed basically in an exoskeleton of sorts with the only thing hold them in being the cartridge being held in place all round by the frame and a single clip at the top. Mind you, you have to fidget with said clip to remove the carts - Did you know that if the cartridge itself were to be crafted using a lighter grade flossing material that the frame can lose grip on it unless you pull them WAY before the already short time you have to?? Well I discovered that if the frame loses grip and the floss has just enough sag in it, that the whole bloody mess falls out of its exoskeleton suit. That stuff only happens one time to a long time hobbyist then you learn to pull the carts quickly into a 1 -2 gal bucket. The first time either goes into the tank with all of the much it filtered (meaning you have a huge water change ahead of you) or it goes over the back... or into the floor in the front on its way to your dispensing trash can. Who knows that over the back = into some type of electrical something and that into the floor between tank and recycle can = huge mess and wife or parental aggro?I am not happy with their increasing price point especially when the quality of the product decrease at the same alarming rate. These are hella sound filters if you stay up on cleaning them, and with the water flow like they can put out they SIMPLY MUST be given the same quality in the filter cartridges as is shown to be in the filters. A powerful filter, capable of keeping a tank of.. lets say 100 1 inch pleco young.. running stable and clear between water changes is ONLY that grade of filter IF YOU GIVE IT A CART to match. I have over $130 just in the 4 filters but I will toss them out the front door if you keep with this unstable cart pricing while selling us products that are well under what they were upon the release of this new line of filters.I can make my own carts here using your other MUCH MUCH lower priced bio bag carts that are $8.49 for 10... That makes me 5 carts that are stronger than your best efforts with carbon and a 4th stage filtration item added for kicks... it also lets me add in any other item needed if I desire. However, I don't want to have to sew my own super cartridge by hand and I have no intention of buying a sewing machine to do your job. What's my point? It is this.. You have no issue selling the carts I am referring to for virtually the exact same price for at least the past 15+ years THRU this very moment... and they are basically the SAME thing. Same exo-suit.. same plastic used.. same floss.. same carbon.. only twice as many +2 than your new and improved filter carts. 10 pk vs 4 pk... I for one am just missing the problem of price needing to increase. (that was a lie...) I know why it needs to increase.. because you think retail is a seller's market, and until someone who has say their own set of domains online with a following reminds them, so does the customer. Retail sales is now, always has been and always will be a buyer's market. When people stop buying - companies go belly up. In the same manner I have convinced at least 12-15 people to try out the EX filters I can convince all of them that due to your trends alone just over a 4 month window that within the year the EX filters will be useless unless we make our own carts and too costly to be of any viable use to the serious hobbyist or breeder.Great items this EX filter and cartridges that come inside them, which used to be what was sold... my last 6 boxes have not only arrived crushed flat and late, but the quality or stability of the stand-up cart no longer will hold firm when held horizontally by the top they droop. They did not do so before this past 4-6 weeks. Whatever has been changed needs to be changed back to properly stable specs. OR you need to sell these as C grade junk made by the 1st grade craft class.I gave you excellent reviews when you gave us excellence... expect no less from me when you give us sub par items at a higher cost to us.

Not as good as I thought
I think what of the off- brands is of better quality. Just my opinion

You need to figure out how to package for shipping
Love the product, but this was shipped in a bag so it is crushed. Please ship these in a box. The two boxes are crushed.
