Short, sweet and a great read
This book is short and to the point. It is a must read for technical professionals and graduate students. I've lenses it to my two direct reports and their writing style has drastically improved.

Took too long to receive book.
I ordered the book for an online class and needed it ASAP. I ordered it on the 2nd of September and it did not arrive until September 11th. Amazon informed me that the seller did not confirm the order for days. I have not opened it due to I found the same book through Barnes and Noble and I received it within couple of days. Faster service. The book it self is from (1993) second edition by Vernon Booth Cambridge University press, published 1984, required for my online course. The soft small cover book fits anywhere. Light weight. Has 8 chapter, 78 pages including the index. Simple writing, scientific paper key instruction style, very clear type lettering, organized, and fast reading. Chapter 8 provides recommendations for further reading resources in writing, authors, usage, editors, dictionaries, units and nomenclature. Very nice hand book for fast reference to writing a scientific paper.

Vernon Booth: a classic in scientific writing
This book is by one of the first authors to recognise that communication skills are important in science, and that they are a craft that has rules and principles that any student can learn relatively easily. It deserves to be treated as a classic, and should be compulsory reading for any student of the life sciences.I can recall reading it with much interest during my PhD in the 1980's, when it was about the only work available in this field, and various biochemical societies in the UK made it available to students. Much of the advice on straightforward communication style is still extremely valid today. In the later 80's and 90's, the field of writing skills took off, and now most University bookshops have several shelves of books on writing skills and how to write a thesis. Booth's book is short, direct, and the advice is very practical. Read it!

Poorly written
The book is written in a very segmented form. If you are looking for a reference book that you can look up sections for specific presentations or papers, this is the book for you. It is, however, hard to just sit down and read from cover to cover.
