Extreme time saver!
This is the second banjo I have used. My last one was metal, very heavy, and leaked everywhere. I am a carpenter and remodeler by trade and typically like to sub out my rock jobs. This job was borderline sized so I chose to do it myself. Considerd a bazooka, but just too expensive. So I tried this banjo. It was a night and day difference from my last one. It worked great. Anyone who complained just doesn't know what they are talking about and should just not do drywall. Yes, it's messy. But drywall is messy! Can't avoid it. But not as messy as tape and a knife. Yes it pulls off wall. But all banjos do. It's called tension. You have a full hopper of mud pulling against your tape. Just put your finder on the tape as you start and jump your hand along for about 6 or 8 feet and then it will stay. Completed a job that would have taken about 12 hours by hand in about 6! Definitely worth it. And the inside corner tool is a huge bonus!!

Pretty good. Saves time
So let me first say it does save time when used properly. By that I mean though it works well with quick set compound but you must make sure it is thoroughly mixed. It can’t be contaminated with bits of dried mud. It will stiffen up the flow and jam up the tape feed. I do recommend it but if you’re a novice or DIYer like me stick to using premixed joint compound and thin it out with a small amount of water. Mix what will fit in the hopper at a time. Be sure you thoroughly clean the unit between uses even between loads. I can’t emphasize this enough that there can’t no be any hardening compound left behind. The tape will not slide smoothly and it will poss you off.Definitely beats mudding, applying tape and scraping off an over abundance of compound. Also, I feel it is more oriented towards right handed people being that the strap is on the right side. Of course I’m pretty uncoordinated with my left hand.I hope this review helps prepare you for a better user experience.

Was alittle difficult to use
So for the money it’s ok. The first time using it one of the knobs broke and it was used per the instructions. It is definitely a pain to use if you don’t know what your doing. Found it was almost easier to use it like a left handed person to make it work better. It’s not to bad to clean up but just have to be careful due to the fragile ness of the products parts.

Concept is easy could use a cutter though
Didn't really like the way it handles even with extremely loose mod very difficult to pull tape and lay it might be good for some people but I'm not impressed

The Bad Reviews Are User Error
This tool is simply amazing. I had been working and wrestling with tape for weeks by hand, got half way through the job and found out about this tool. Got it in the mail and was able to finish the entire rest of the job in less than 4 hours. Im using this for a commercial office and it does the job well.As another reviewer noted, there are no instructions, but Youtube has great instructional videos. To get it going good you need to run the tape through the middle of the banjo and put your watered down mud on both sides of the tape. This enables a nice coat on the bottom and top of the tape for when you go at it with a knife to smooth the paper out. I set my guage to 4 to allow enough mud to flow out and found that to be a good number to work with. Also, it does get a little more messy than with a knife, but the job is also faster. I wore gloves to cut down on cleanup and also used a sponge with a brilo pad attached to clean the banjo afterwards. Very quick to clean.

Tape gun works as advertised
When I first used tool the tape kept ripping. I thought about the reviews, before I purchased and thought because it received one star and four star reviews it had to be because of a learning curve. You have to mix your joint compound (all purpose) at the correct viscosity. I can tape by hand with 5 minute hot mud. I had a lot of tape to run. 250 roll. This tool worked well. You have to mix mud thin enough and be careful you don’t pinch tape when you are closing lid. I wanted to tape by hand but I told myself you have to be smarter than the tool

Time saver
Definitely a time saver, even though there is not a blade to cut the tape at a end of a run, I would buy again if needed.
