This Journey guitar is a great sounding, and beautifully crafted instrument.I purchased this guitar after running out of time trying to fix an alignment problem that had developed on another travel acoustic which I had taken with on vacations over ten or twelve years. We were supposed to leave in only a few days. Not enough time to fix the problem.So...I found Journey Instruments on Amazon and was able to find a nice alternative to my other one...and I got it within two days! It is a well built instrument and once I got it tuned up I found it to be a very friendly and true sounding instrument throughout. It also fits very nicely into overhead compartments in an airplane...which was sometimes a problem with the other acoustic in small commuter flights.All in all this guitar has excellent intonation, action is very comfortable and the locking Grover tuning heads make for a really well built instrument that stays in tune and plays comfortably and accurately up and down the whole neck. The sculpted cutaway is also a really nice touch which makes playing on the high registers a breeze. The built-in piezo passive pickups are high quality too.Most of all..having this guitar along on our vacation (that my wife and I had planned for our 45th anniversary to Hawaii) last week was a nice touch and the 'Journey' was a big hit.Just mellowed out listening to some waves and playin' some tunes...that works just fine!

At first this guitar had some terrible buzzing but once I had a Luthier look at he he fixed it with some good setup work. He was impressed with how it broke down and and packed up. But he was really impressed with the sound quality! This Koa guitar is beautiful and it sounds amazing! It has a very nice deeper tone than you'd expect, it fits very nicely in my hands and I have some pretty big hands. I am very happy with my new Journey guitar! I just came home from a 4 state 2 week trip and played this guitar daily, it sounds wonderful, packed up easily and stowed in the plane overhead without any issue. Truly something to consider if you're traveling and want to bring a guitar! That's why I bought it.. worth every penny!

Amazing!! It was just what I needed for a compassion trip to Kenya. It traveled well, went together and came apart beautifully, tuned quickly and was easy to play. After having previously lugged my full-sized guitar to Kenya, this was a miracle! LOVE IT!!!!

I have been looking on and off for years for a travel ACOUSTIC guitar that I could fly with easily. Not necessarily to perform with, but to maintain my ability to practice when away from my home guitar for extended periods. This guitar absolutely fits the bill for that need. It's not overly expensive, it packs in an overhead with no space concerns regardless of the plane size and most importantly, plays like a TRADITIONAL acoustic guitar. The setup and packing is super easy, the playability is very nice, and the sound isn't as good as my home higher quality guitar, but definitely not offending. (And the mid-range is actually exceptionally good.) This model has a standard scale with the 12th fret fully reachable, comes with a pickup if you did want to plug in and get an improved tone, and a slightly smaller body that is quite comfortable even for me (I'm tall). The beveled body definitely contributes to that. I play primarily fingerstyle guitar so the alternate lower bridge works quite well thought I may shave just a smidge off. Neck quality is quite good, on the wider sided and a little thicker than some, but nothing that impacts playability. Once snapped together the guitar holds it's tune quite well due to the quality tuners. Aesthetically it's quite good and comes in whatever wood stain you would like. I'm and engineer and the carry case and packing is very cool. If you are considering the Journey Puddle Hopper version I also tried that out but ended up returning it. It is even more travel friendly due to the smaller size and will fit underneath the seat, but it comes with a sacrifice in a shorter scale length and a big impact on sound quality. Still, if size is key and you don't play much lower in the neck it's still a good option. I decided to trade the small difference in size for better playability and sound. The media could not be loaded. Easy to put together. You have to detune it pretty good to loosen the strings up enough to click it into place. But if you’re comfortable tuning your guitar pretty often like a guitar player needs to be anyway, it’s totally fine. I was surprised at the build quality of this. Very nice weight to it. Solid made. Mini head stock to cut down on length. Smooth, routered edges. Tight and strong tuners. Solid nut. Very nice sounding especially with these elixirs on here that it comes with. It sounded a little dull when I had it a few steps down but most acoustics do. Tuned up to standard or a half step down, it’s sounds really nice and clear and full. It does come with a nice case, but I have a decent size LL Bean “locker” backpack that this fits completely into so I can still throw more clothes and whatnot into for plane ride carry on. This thing is legit and I’m pretty picky.
