Great man, great book
Great man, great book! A must read for all. I came across The Overview Effect a few years ago when trying to figure out what i wanted to explore in my Psychology Doctoral research. I was captivated from the very start and my fascination has only grown since then. The book first came out in the late 80s/90s when the 1st edition was published. Its relevance was not fully understood back then. The ideas in the book are certainly getting more credence and acknowledgement now with space tourism kicking off and space travel providing so much learning - Frank is a forward thinker and someone who will surely be recognized for his philosophies on space travel. i am now in the final year of my doctoral research, and exploring astronaut experiences of the overview effect, and am for ever grateful to the book and the man. Needless to say i am a fan! I love this book, it change my life.

Better than therapy!
Mr. White has made me believe not just that it is possible to save the human race, but that the human race is worth saving. This book had tremendous healing properties for me, and I thank the author for his continued (27 year) effort to convey his message.

Writing style is pompously grandiose, forcibly profound
The subject matter interests me, but the style of writing reminds me of being in high school and trying to make a paper sound as profound as possible instead of plainly writing what it is I want to tell the reader. The author tries to convey the awe felt by those who have viewed the earth from space, and he does it with cringe-worthy grandiosity.

I first read Frank White's, "The Overview Effect" more ...
I first read Frank White's, "The Overview Effect" more than 25 years ago when it first came out. The book was an instant classic for those of us who believe space exploration is the most important endeavor of humankind. The book remains a classic today. It was the first humanities based book to illustrate the importance of space exploration. Its basic premise is that a person's outlook on humanity is changed forever once one views the earth from outer space.I met author Frank White shortly after he wrote the book. I was a graduate student of space business and founder of Students of the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. I also was working at NASA's Marshall Spaceflight Center at the time. Now I own Satwest, the worlds leader in providing internet in space. I urge everyone who is a space enthusiast, or who wants the human race to survive and prosper, to read this book.

This book is for Global Leaders.
Global Leaders can only lead the world from a strong foundational perspective. This book provides that perspective by getting it directly from the source, the Astronauts themselves. Highly Recommend Buying.

and I recommend it to lots of friends
This book was highly influential for me, and I recommend it to lots of friends. I bought a previous edition several years ago but having a new edition with the interviews with people from the Virgin Galactic crew was insightful and poignant. Having these perspectives (on the ultimate perspective, no less) is very valuable, and has forced me to be mindful in the way I approach work and the world.
