Winch came with my used Jeep purchase. I don't know how hold, maybe 2-3 years old. I've used it once to pull me out of a mud pit that was consumed my 33" tires.

You get what you pay for.
Not water proof, even water resistant. Got to use it twice before it crapped itself. Brush holder rusted, making the brushes no longer contact the commutator. Can not find a replacement brush holder assembly.Would be easy to replace them, if they were available. This would be a 3 star review if i could have fixed this winch.

What's with the HUGE markup Amazon?!?
Don't be stupid and buy this on Amazon. Harbor Freight sales it for $299.99 and they almost ALWAYS have a non stop 20% off coupon for online and in store purchases. Plus, if you have to ship, they're shipping is super cheap.BTW, this is a good winch for the money. Get the extended warranty and find you some nice synthetic line.

CHEAP, DANGEROUS, CHINESE MADE.
Cheap Chinese made JUNK. These are sold under other names too (like Harbor Freight's junk) but they all come from the worst parts of China's mega industrial zones. They are dangerous, catch fire and loosen under loads. I think some of these reviews are fake and some are by people who dont use them, or used them once and don't know any better.SORRY BUT ITS CHINESE JUNK THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL to sell.

It pulls great and costs less than half the price of a ...
I researched and debated over a lot of winches before deciding on this one for my Jeep Wrangler TJ. It pulls great and costs less than half the price of a comparable Warn winch. I got it from Harbor Freight for $261 after taxes with a 20% off coupon. This is basically the same quality winch one would get from Quadratec or Smittybilt in the same price range, but this one is cheaper if using the ubiquitous Harbor Freight discount coupon. The only drawback to this winch as compared to those is it only comes with 65' of cable whereas they come with 100' and 95', respectively (though if you're looking to save weight AND pull stronger at short distances on the trail, this is a positive). If you are like me and on a tight budget but want more confidence on the trail, ignore those Warn snobs and go with this one.

loading trailer
I mounted a trailer hitch on my 18 ft trailer and then connected the winch to hitch by clip pin so I can remove it if needed. I then use a snatch block and pull trees 30" across by 16 to 18 ft long onto the trailer for firewood. I can also use the snatch block to reverse pull and unload the trailer. No problems
