A great smart speaker
I had initially bought a pair of Echo Studios with an Echo subwoofer. I had taken the plunge after realizing how well Alexa works via smart speakers at my sister's place. The problem was that they would disconnect constantly from each other and the internet which made listening to anything unpleasant. So I had hunted around for a new smart speaker and it was a choice between the Sonos 5 and the Denon Home 350. I went for the 350 and I am really pleased with my choice. It is isn't the most subtle sounding speaker but if you like bass it has it in abundance even if it doesn't go really deep. The sound is goes pretty loud and filled my room easily. Build quality is top notch and I was surprised that I could control Spotify using Alexa even though I've read reviews that this isn't the case. Connection has never dropped which is a relief after using the Echo Studios. Now Alexa isn't as well integrated as with the Echo Studios (no surprise there). The only thing I missed though was being able to make a phone call using Alexa but may be that will come with an updated. Amazon Music as well could have been better integrated also but overall I think it is worth the money and I'll probably buy another so I can pair them together

The best sound I’ve heard for the price!
I purchased this Denon Home 350 speaker for my kitchen to replace my existing HEOS 3 which I’ve had for 5 years (and has since taken up residence in the kids bedroom). It’s a bit larger overall but the form factor is much better and the build quality is a step-up from the previous ‘HEOS’ range (especially the cloth grill around it looks much better quality). Having not had to set up one of these speakers for some time, I was surprised at how easy it was to get it up and running- you used to need a special cable to connect to your phone, but now it just sees the speaker in the app. The biggest upgrade however, is the sound quality... it’s amazing how much bass this produces, but it doesn’t overwhelm the rest of the sound. It also spreads the sound far beyond the size of the speaker - the stereo image is huge, almost as if there are separate left and right speakers placed a couple of meters apart. It uses the standard HEOS app, so it works with my existing older HEOS products too, but this new speaker also has some presets on the top, which I’ve used for internet radio stations. Because of this feature, it’s already being used more due to the fact you don’t need to pick up your phone every time to use it. (It also looks cool as the buttons are ‘touch control’ so the top is completely gloss black until you place your hand near it, then they light up!). Overall, massively happy with my purchase!

Disappointed for the price point
So after countless hours of research I wanted to see what else was on the market apart from the Sonos five in this category. I came across Denon. The out of the box experience was okay, nothing to be wowed by considering this speaker is meant to retail at 549-599. £599 bring its current price. I got it for £369 on a black Friday deal so I thought bargain!Powered it up, connected it to the HEOS app. Few minutes later the speaker disappears and loses connection to the network. So I ran through the set up process again.Initially I wasn't blown away at the sound when setting it up in the lounge on a coffee table. But I thought, let me position it right and put it in its home on top of the fridge in the corner of the room. Unplugged it and then plugged back in - it forgot it's network settings again. This time I reconnected and checked for updates- and there was, so I updated it to the latest version. Now it does not lose its connection settings.Adjusted the placement settings in the HEOS app, and I listened to it for about a week. Sound was okay, quite bass heavy as some have said, even on the lowest setting.I then went up to set up Google Assistant, followed the instructions to add it to the Apps on Google Home. I tried to talk to the speaker, no dice. Got in touch with Denon and they've advised its not supported unless you have another device which is capable to listen to your instructions. They've confirmed there is no further development for this planned in the future, so think twice if this is absolute must of a feature, as it was for me.Few days later the Sonos Fives were on sale at £395, so I took the punt and brought two units. From the unboxing to playing the first song (same track I tested with the Denon 350 to make it comparable), I was blown away, the depth of the beat yet the clarity and not overly punchy with bass like the Denon, I know I should have just got a Sonos in the first place.I know some have mentioned the sonos app had issues on Android, but I've had none so far (s22Plus), app is much smoother and slicker than the HEOS, and Spotify Radio is sweet too - with high quality tracks. So if you're in the same boat as me, grab the Sonos, you won't regret it.I heard the Denon 150's in store and they sounded quite good, but can't compare to the equivalent Sonos era 100s.

Great sounding
This is a great sounding speaker, watched a couple of reviews on YouTube that suggest turning bass down by about four, which I did and greatly improved the sound to my ears,as straight out of the box it's a bit bass heavy. The only gripe I had was I needed to update firmware, which is not covered in the quick start guide, but only when you download the complete manual from a QR code its on about page 59. So took me a while to set up. But that said it's a well made heavy piece of kit that gives great sound, interacts well with Alexa no issues

Sound quality
I have been using Bose for over 20yrs and contemplating which switch I'm going to go with Denon or Sonos but with the review of Denon 350 I made up my mind and the quality of sound thus speaker have is unbelievable what coming out crystal clear even when the bass is on full volume, you will not fault going for Denon what the money and will recommend to any one looking to enjoy some quality music.

Good sound, very difficult to connect to Bluetooth, AirPlay or via there own app.
We bought this to replace the Bose Soundlink Air to improve the appalling air play connect ability of that product. This is worse!! No, it not our network, I bought the Demon 150 for the office in a network 8 miles away, equally poor, basically you need to reboot the devices everytime your want to use them. I am using an iPhone 11. I may edit this post later if things improve! But as it stands it is going back to Amazon
