Lights the way, however dimly
I installed this myself along the walkway to my front door. Aside from the light directly above my front door, the walkway was incredibly dark and I did not like going outside at night when I let my dog out or needed to take the garbage can to the curb.I purchased 2 of these lights to install along the long walkway. The installation took a mere 5 minutes each. Because my electric screwdriver's battery was dead, I used a manual screwdriver and, for that reason, only used 2 of the 4 screws that came with each of the units I purchased. Despite only having used half of the screws, the units feel sturdy and don't look like they're going anywhere.By the way, if you're installing this on a gate post, you need not use screws and can, instead, use the 2 plastic ties that come with the product. The ties can secure the light by being threaded through the base of the light, and then wrapped around a post. The lights work as expected and emit a dim spotlight in a smallish area below the light itself (see the photos I uploaded). The fact that the lights aren't terribly bright does not bother me, however, as there are other houses quite near me and I'd rather not have bright lights shining into my neighbors' windows. The lights seem to pick up motion about 5 to 10 feet from the unit and, so far, seem quite reliable. My house is light-colored so the white lights match rather nicely. They do exactly what I needed them to do and I feel less anxious about walking outside late at night to take the dog out.

Affordable and works well
We weren't able to afford to have an electrician install motion sensor lights for our driveway and decided to try these lights as an alternative. I must say, they are very cost effective and work well for our needs. The light is not super bright so we bought two of them which was adequate to light our driveway. The motion sensors are not overly sensitive and won't go off just because it's windy. Installation was easy and took only minutes. We installed them over our garage door which made them quite useful for when we're trying to unlock the garage on dark evenings. The range for the motion sensors is about 8 to 10 feet and yes, the neighbor's cats set them off when they walk by. However, the go off quickly enough after motion stops that it saves the batteries. This item would work great in a child's room who wants a nightlight that only comes on when they get up in the middle of the night.

Durable & sensor has a wide angle
I've used one of these great little lights for at least two years now, maybe more, outside. It has survived through a lot of storms and frigid temps.Though I got the first one from a different source, I just bought two more from ANTonline here at AMAZON, and they're just as trusty and great (and cost me much less, this time!).I use rechargeable C batteries in it, though I have also used regular C batteries. (I've had to recharge the batteries about once a month, so far.)Once after a heavy rainstorm, I had to open it up and let it dry out -- due to not having screwed it shut just right in the first place, I think. But, it did dry out! Then I simply put the batteries back in and it worked fine again.Usually, if there's anything suddenly odd about the light, it just means that the batteries need to be replaced or charged up.Solar lights didn't work for me -- not enough steady sunlight where I'd use them. The MAXSA light is just what we need to light a path for our feet at night, and has a surprisingly wide angle of 'vision.'It's not as bright and strong as some lights that you'd hook up electrically, but, for various reasons, I wasn't able to use an electric light, and this little light works out very well.

For a Closet
We have an older home with limited electrical sources and a few closets without lights. This works well mounted inside the closet above the door. When you open the door it pops on. It turns off even if the door is left open all day because it requires motion to turn on. I liked it so well I bought another for a storage closet and I might get yet another for a hallway closet. I haven't had them long enough to confirm battery life. If I was to improve it, I would make it a bit brighter but it does do the trick.

Perfect For What I Need
I just want something that lights up the lock on the door when I come home at night. I bought a few of these about 4 years ago to also light the path from the street to my former residence. They did the job. They lasted through lots of rain and more than a few blizzards. I gave one away to a friend whose new doorway was dark; she loves it.And then the motion sensor on my remaining lights gave up the ghost. New batteries made the lights come on just fine, but they never went off. (In their defense, they also got knocked over many, many times by neighbor cats.) It was a no-brainer to get more. I saved a few bucks getting like-new ones and they're indistinguishable from brand new so far.Mine have always just been by a path or on the stairs. I've never tried attaching them anywhere.

Adequate but be sure and change the screws!
I purchased two of this product and it is not that simple to assemble or install, however if you do decide to purchase it be sure and change the screws because the current screws are so cheap they actually broke off and the screw head shaved off, left particles all over my electric screwdriver and could not be either fully screwed in, or taken out. Hence it took well over an an hour to install. The range of light is basically adequate for outside a garage as a car drives up, or on a walkway.

Excellent! Excellent!
Well packaged to protect product and delvered as promised. I purchased 4 of these lights to attach to the posts on our car port. I thought I would do this first before dishing out the time and expense of running electrical. These lights are great. The fact that the light is a ball makes it easy to position so the the light does not arbitraily come on and so that you can direct it to a point/direction you prefer. The motion sensor works great. In my opinion, the brightness of the light is adequate. I plan to purchase at least one more to place on the 5th post of our car port. As a refernece our carport is big - 19 1/2 feet wide by 24 feet long. Lastly, very easy to install.

Very good.
I am very happy with this light, but it lights a bit less than the Maxsa no. 40242. A movement is detected from at least 20 feet, which is very good.
