BaoFeng UV-5R 8W Ham Radio Handheld Dual Band High Power Two Way Radio with 3800mAh Battery USB Program Cable and Earpiece

I have not used these extensively yet so there may be some things I can do to improve performance. I purchased 2 with 18 inch antennae. I am in farm country that is flat and I could communicate well for about 1.25 miles. Once beyond that distance, audio was choppy. Used on CB mode, not HAM.For the price, I feel they are a good value and I will carry them in UTVs for hunting and camping, etc. I would also like to get into the HAM usage and test that but will have to update later on that end.I purchased the ones with larger batteries and charging stations. They seem very well built, parts clip together tightly and they feel robust. I don't like cheap-feeling equipment. Audio is loud and adjustments easy to make. I am impressed and hope to find distances improved with experimentation or HAM functionality.

I bought these BaoFeng UV-5R radios after doing a lot of research and reading a lot of reviews and watching a lot of video reviews. These radios have more features than any I've considered in the past and are very rugged and well powered. There are books out there that help to explain the programming capabilities and if you are looking for the best guide for these, I recommend looking at The Guerrilla's Guide To The Baofend Radio book by NC Scout. These radios have more features than what the common Joe will ever use but at the price point, features, durability and quality, these are a Must Have items for your EDC. I recommend purchasing the programming cable that allows you to plug it into your PC for programming mode but you will need to find the most informative youtube video that suits your understanding before attempting to program them. This is a Must Buy and is as important as having a Life Straw in your EDC Bag or Gear. In the Army we had a saying "You need to be able to shoot, move and communicate, and if you cannot communicate you will not be as effective in shooting and moving" Communication will be key when the time comes that these are needed.

not going lie I know nothing about radios but this is a great deal for the price no cap , but the other antenna don't really work better then the stock but it look cool

I wanted another radio and I liked the idea of a big folding antenna and a larger battery, similar to what I carried in the military, to boost the range in a valley that just barley covers the distance I need with a stock setup. I was happy to find this set for such a good deal. The only issue is there was a fairly large gap between the antenna and the base that would have taken multiples of the gasket washers they include in the kit. Thankfully, I had a larger one that came with a Nagoya antenna I bought for another radio sitting around and that shimmed it up. I would definitely purchase some if you order this and don't have any around

This is a good purchase for around the farm, four wheeling, emergency calling when hunting. Fair money for thos purchase

As mentioned in the title, the actual radio is working great and I have had no issues with. The rest of the kit however is a different matter.After barely 2 weeks of use, the included Abbree antenna began struggling to pick up any signal including my location NOAA station and current the stock short antenna has better performance.After week 3 the wall adapter for the base station also became nonfunctional. If not for the included USB plug that can plug into the larger battery I would have been out of luck and unable to charge the battery until I bought a new charger.Currently, while I can recommend the radio for those who are interested in it, I can't recommend this particular kit.

The BaoFeng UV-5R High Power Tri-Power Portable Two-Way Radio are by far the best inexpensive walkie talkies on the market. They have a 3800mAh Battery which lasts about 2 days depending on how much you communicate and if you are using on Low or High power.I use them around the house and let me say the sound quality is crystal clear and the look is even more awesome. There are many features to the walkie talkie. This pack comes with 2 walkie talkies, 2ea - 28 inch foldable antennas (for long range), plus 2 regular antennas for normal use, 2 drop-in chargers.I have tried similar models by Midland, Cobra, etc and I could not even get these to work past a half block of my house. Tried the BaoFengs and I got about a half mile distance for receiving communication from my son.Nothing compares to the BaoFeng lineup. Let me tell you, just buy them and you will not be disappointed.
