Inexpensive, attractive, and very functional
Just bought one of these to replace an old higher quality (somewhat more elegant, with glass parts instead of plastic) floor lamp whose concrete base weight decomposed. This arrived promptly, and was quite easy to assemble (required just a wee bit of care screwing the upright pipe parts together). It both looks very nice and is extremely function at the side of my bed, in the master bedroom here. I've two 17 watt ("100 watt equivalent) 4000K LED "bulbs" in the top, and one 12 watt ("75 watt equivalent") 4000K bulb in the side arm.Only negative, if you want to call it that: The white parts are plastic (note that they tell you this up front in the item description), not glass, so you won't impress snob guests looking for froo froo stuff or for conspicuous consumption. But at a distance of 3 feet or more, it looks JUST FINE. Indeed, it looks QUITE NICE. And, again, it does a GREAT job of providing light both to that part of the room generally AND as a spot light for reading. Great for a living room or bedroom.

Burnt shade
I bought this lamp in September 2012 to use in our living room. I wanted something that would produce a lot of light, and loved that this lamp took two 150W bulbs up top and also had an additional reading light. We were very happy with the lamp and how much light it produced until March 2013 when we noticed that the upper shade was starting to burn near where one of the light bulbs was. I switched to a lower wattage, but the burn mark expanded and turned into a hole. I contacted Customer Service at lightingnewyork.com, and at first they said I could purchase a new shade. I was kind of surprised that they weren't willing to replace the shade for free, when I had followed the instruction manual in terms of the bulbs I'd used and had only had the lamp for 6 months. Then the customer service agent wrote again and said they didn't have the shade in stock, didn't know when they would get it, and that it may be less expensive for me to just buy an entirely new lamp. I know this lamp was relatively inexpensive, so maybe I shouldn't have expected more, but still for $60-70, you hope it will last longer than 6 months or that customer service would be more willing to get you a replacement! As much as I love the light from this lamp, I have to give it a negative review for having such a cheaply-made shade (it feels like plastic rather than glass) and poor design in terms of how close the bulbs are to the shade. It also seems like a potential fire hazard.

Bright Light!
This light is in my living room. I didn’t think I needed the reading light, but with the top light and the reading light on, it’s very bright. It’s just what I need when I want to light up my living room at night. Of course it’s also nice when I need just one of the lights on.

Excellent product, awful seller/delivery
The ítem has good looks, nice quality in materials and easy assembly. Works really good, bright and silent. All this for a reasonable price. Unless the seller has it stored so long that the white foam that protects the lamp has become dust, and during the delivery someone has hit the box so hard that it has broken the porcelain where the halogen bulb is placed

Perfect for us!
Got this for my daughter's bedroom. It provides enough light for the room as well as direct reading light. The base is sturdy (on carpet), the lamp looks good and what I really like is that (with the lamp positioned close enough to her bed) she can reach the knob to turn the reading light on or off or the bigger overhead light on or off or both lights off, so that if she wants to read in bed before going to sleep she doesn't have to get out of bed to turn the light off.

300 watt equivalent lamp
Love this 300 watt equivalent floor lamp. This model with side lamp works well for me because switch is lower and I can easily reach switch from bed. I had same lamp previously for maybe 10 years. I had to replace it due to my cracking the plastic shade when moving it from one home to another. After I cracked the shade and continued to use the lamp for a while, the shade eventually disintegrated when I tried to remove it. I looked for a replacement shade but couldn't find one. Easiest to put together while upright.

Light switch hard to turn. Wobbly base. Stem hard to attach to base.
Disappointing design. Pipe/stem hard to thread to the base. I was a little off and it wouldn't stand straight. My spouse had to get two wrenches (and detach the nut from base) to unscrew it and start over. Once assembled, the switch is smooth and tight - very hard to turn on and off the light. My fingers slip so I have to squeeze hard to turn the light on.There is ONLY ONE switch so you have to turn the hard-to-turn switch on once for the reading light, off; on again to get the torch on off; and on again to switch on the torch and the reading light. So instead of having two switches, you are constantly working hard to turn the hard-to-use light switch to get the amount of lighting you want.Lastly, the base has a mere metal COVER over a black plastic base that contains CEMENT. Since it's not one piece, it doesn't sit flat on the carpet or hardwood floor. (We know it's cement bc our older floor lamp had the exact base in size/appearance. The plastic cracked, leaking dry cement pieces and eventually the whole stem toppled over). For $65, I expect a better product. It's hard to put back in box and return so we are stuck with it.

This lamp really lights up the room
Read reviews on this lamp before buying it. One repeated comment was that it did not stand up straight. I found this to be true but just put a piece of carpet under one side and it is straight. It gives off great light and I like the small lamp for reading. It looks good in the room. The first one I got did not work and I had no problem with amazon replacing it. I looked at a lot of lamps before chosing this one and I am happy with this purchase.
