Good Value - and Addressing Other Misleading Reviews
Most of you know that Reese is a well-known name in the hitch hardware space. I bought this for a 24-foot, <4000 pound travel trailer. Instructions are adequate but if this is your first weight distributing hitch you might want to get help from a friend who is familiar with them since the instructions gloss over some points which may become important later (like weight transfer to the front wheels). Assembly was straightforward and the hitch worked fine for the 2 years that we owned that camper. Some concerns raised in other reviews should be addressed. First, the reviews highlighting poor shipping are not reviews of the product. Poor shipping reviews skew the reviews of the product itself. Second, while the construction of this hitch is fine, it doesn't employ all the sway control methods that other more expensive hitches can provide. It provides decent control for a very decent price, but if you need more sway control, you will have to pay more. And third, you can buy more shims to take up any excess space in the hitch head. They give you one, though I didn't need any. Yes, it would be nice if they gave you a couple shims, but shims are about $6, chump change compared to the cost of the hitch, or the cost of the trailer, or even the hassle of returning the hitch for want of a simple $6 shim.OK, all that said, this is an excellent value for a hitch that provides some sway control. It's a step above chain-based weight distribution hitches, and at under $300 (2022) it's a very solid buy. If you know what you're buying, this is a 5-star hitch.

Great value easy install
This is a great value for the money. It works great on my 10000lb trailer and tracks very well. Almost no sway even at highway speeds. Was easy to set up and came with very good instructions.

Absolutely no Technical support! You are on your own!
I love the hitch, but took off a star as you will receive absolutely no technical support. I bought this for use with an 8000 GVW dual axle enclosed trailer towed by a 2020 Lexus GX460 to reduce sway and squat when fully loaded. It works great. However, the adjustable shank that came with it was too tall, and in the position I needed to install it. It would’ve hit the ground when entering driveways I tried to call technical support to see if they offered a different shank. I had emailed technical support a week earlier and had gotten no response regarding a different issue which I managed to figure out myself, this time I called during business hours and waited on hold for two solid hours until it was 5 PM Eastern time and I was automatically transferred to voicemail, which was full so I was unable to leave a message. I encountered the full voicemail with the prior issue , and that is why I emailed but still received no response. I ended up buying a husky brand shank, which was a few holes, shorter, and fit well. I got that in like new condition from Amazon for $55, slightly cheaper than a brand new one. Probably much less expensive than Anything. Reese would’ve wanted to sell me anyhow, I will save the taller shank for when I buy a pick up truck. The hitch really works well, no more squatting or sway at highway speed. I am very pleased with the product, but very disappointed with the lack of technical support. You may want to consider a different brand that actually has technical support in customer service. You may want to avoid Horizon Global brands such as Reese or DrawTite unless you do not mind no support. I also had problems with a hitch hauler type product I bought years ago which was missing a part and I was never able to get any response and had to fabricate, but I had bought that clearance and it was a brand I think Horizon Global was phasing out at the time. I’ve had good customer service with Curt though.

Junk, choose something else
If I could give this zero stars I would. I’m not usually this critical but this thing has been a nuisance at best and a death trap at worst.About 2 hours into towing the entire hitch slid out of my hitch receiver, the hitch pin had disappeared despite being properly secured with the provided pin. If we had been going any faster we could have died or been seriously injured. We had to pay a traveling mechanic to come, lift the whole trailer, and then supply us with a replacement hitch pin. Honestly, if that was the end of it we might have just moved on.The sway bar on one side became impossible to remove after only 9 days of use. We had to remove the hitch, flip it upside down and then remove it.And then, the tool to remove and place the sway bars bent after only 10 days of use. It is completely useless now.At the end of our trip (11 days) the whole unit looked 10 years old.Honestly, choose something else. This thing could kill someone. For context, our trailer is just under 8,000 pounds and we got the model for 12,500 pounds. Our truck is a 2021 Chevy Silverado.

Hitch up
Thus hitch takes some effort to install but works great. You have to work to get the bolts torqued but Inam sure thatnisnwith any hitch. It is simple to hook up the RV to my truck and looks great.

We could immediately tell a difference with how the trailer felt after installing these. Wasn't hard to install. Almost a year later and still perfect.

Great Weight distribution hitch. Still need better boxing.
Ordered the Reese pro series 8000 k hitch. Was worried about the negative shipping reviews. Item came a day earlier. Met the UPS driver when he pulled up. The box was broke in half. The driver used his dolly instead of my crappy one. He waited till I checked to make sure all the parts were intact. Took me an hour to put the hitch on, I had a 5/16 bolt that was not formed right and couldn't get the nut on. I ran to big box to get one for $2.50 rather than waiting for Reese to send me one. Worked fine. The Weght Distribution & sway control improved the towing of my 23 foot camper.
