Great picture, easy to use for multi region discs
My old unit for zone B 3D discs was failing. Didn’t know if I’d find any units still available to replace it. Did research online and decided to go for this one even though $200 was a significant outlay. Glad I did! This one did great, worked fine right out of the box for zone B dvd, zone B blu ray, and zone B 3D blu ray. Switching region is very easy (see attached sheet) from the remote. Gives an excellent picture, particularly for 3D. Very satisfied!

An excellent region-free blu-ray player.
Works perfectly. Seamless playing of DVDs from any region and a single button press to ensure any blu-ray region is also pkayable. So far so good....

Only a few apps to stream
This is my 2nd one of these, I’ve only used it as a disc player before because it’s hooked up to a fire tv but I got this one for my projector. Although the product description say 100s of apps you can only use Netflix, prime, YouTube and a few apps I’ve never heard of so that is a lie. Still as a disc player it works great just dissatisfied I can only stream prime and Netflix.

Another great Sony product
When it came time to replace our old blu ray this was a no brainer for me. Our old one still works but we’re having a few issues with it. Technology changes and so after 8 years I know it’s just a matter of time before it just gives out, it’s still in use in a bedroom. Now with the new one. It has been great. I definitely like the upscaling because it does make a difference. Just plug and play and was connected to our Wi-Fi in less than a minute. I’m just hoping that longevity isn’t lost with newer technology. I’m the type that doesn’t make quick decisions on this type of purchase and am very pleased with that I did.

Works but the Region selection is kind of a hack. But it works.
You have to follow the special instructions to put the player in different region modes. It does not appear to be a well integrated feature, but rather seems more of an aftermarket add-on. But it does work.

Audio crashes on playing DVD's.
This player crashes the audio when playing a DVD, sometimes 3 or 4 times on one DVD, and I have to restart it when it does that. I tried to return the player, but Amazon would not take it back because when I installed it, and became aware of the problem, it was past the 30 day return window for "Deals." So they referred me to Sony Warranty, and Sony Warranty would not honor the warranty because it was "used or refurbished or returned".. So I spent $216 on a "deal," but it was a "bad deal" as it turned out. However it does work with streaming.
