Superb for seed starting
This is superb for seed starting. When I opened the bag it reminded me of the soil of my childhood where I could grow anything. It holds water well, even in the current 90 degree FL heat, so less watering of tiny seedlings. I can see why it would be so great for making soil blocks. I wished I lived closer to brick and mortar store that carried it.

Great Product I have used 2 years in a row and will use again.
This product is a great product for gardening and this is my second year using it. No problems but I do use boiling water to sterilize before planting. but I like the consistency of it except for the large bark pieces. I do wish they were a little smaller but other than that Great Great product.I recommend.

Good
I ordered the raised bed mix and the potting mix. I tried them both for seed starting in containers with cells and humidity domes. Both worked well for marigolds. Germination on the seed packet said 5 to 8 days. I did each soil type in 2 different containers 1 day apart. 12 seeds total, 10 germinated. Sprouts emerged after 3 days. I planted rosemary as well using the potting mix, (germination is 10 to 20 days) nothing happened with them yet. I also planted lavender using the potting mix (germination is 15 to 20 days) with one sprout after 7 days, nothing for the remaining 5 cells. I'm happy with the outcome but there are a lot of big pieces I tried to move to the sides so the sprouts could get around them. The big pieces were bark/twigs, a big old seed and something I couldnt identify. I like the "gold" flakes. I think there isn't much of a difference between the soils, they both seem to be good

Great for added nutrients and vermiculite
Great to mix with other stuff, that is NOT FOIL the shiny chunks are pieces of vermiculite which aids in keeping water and preventing soil compaction and you should be adding it to soil mixes regardless. I personally use a mix of this, coco coir, and coarse grade vermiculite.

Pieces of metal in the soil
The packaging and delivery was all good. When I opened my bag and started using the soil it had pieces of what looks like aluminum (like from a soda can) throughout the soil. I tried picking it out but there were too many pieces. I'm doing a project with my students and don't have time to order another bag of soil, but I don't plan to order this brand again. I will update in a few weeks with how our plants grew in this soil.
