Beej's Guide to Network Programming: Using Internet Sockets

Fantastic introduction to networking for IPv4 (and now IPv6)
The writing style is compelling and makes you want to keep reading. I enjoyed the colorful commentary throughout the book, and the discussion on IPV6.If you need to get a head start on using C and socks to connect your apps then you need to get this book. The sample code provided helps you understand when the documentation doesn't explain how to use all the functions together. It's a quick read and bound to get you going quickly. The second half of the book tells you more details and provides sample code for each function within the socket API.

Incredible book, now in print
This guide has been out for years and it taught me the basics of network programming years ago for free. Absolutely worth it to support Beej and have a physical copy. The printing is okay but leaves a bit to be desired, but the content is absolute gold. This is the most humor I've ever seen in a technical book and if you're looking to learn about network programming, there is no place I'd rather start.

Good guide.
It is free online, but Beej is a good writer. I hope he writes more stuff ...

Fantastic book
This is what I read to learn network programming in C over 20 years ago. Still a great read.

Bought this to support the author. Always has been a great guide.
I've known about Beej's guide to network programming for over 20 years. Was an amazing reference back then and one I used when I started learning socket programming. Granted the content is online, I saw an opportunity to support the author for teaching me so long ago. Well deserved!

Great content, poor formatting
Beej's Guide to Network programming is widely available online for free, and the high quality of the content is self-apparent. If I were only rating on the content of the book, it'd get 5 stars. But I only give it 4 because of the poor formatting. Specifically, it uses syntax highlighting but prints it in black in white, leading some of the keywords to appear in very light gray print. This is hard to understand, because Beej's own site offers a black-and-white version of the book.

Fantastico!
