Just what I needed for my B & D Alligator battery powered chainsaw
My Alligator was made when powered by a NiCad battery, but those ended up not holding a charge long enough over time to get much done. Thankfully, this adapter came along & it works perfectly with the new lithium battery. Be sure the adapter prongs are configured the same way for the tool you have.Without the adapter I would have had to buy another chainsaw.I particularly like the Alligator product, which has jaws that cover the chain while operating. Being a mid 60s female now, it just gives more peace of mind when operating it.Excellent product, works beautifully & restored my tool to functionality for far less than a new chainsaw.

This is a money/investment life saver!
This adapter is a game changer for me. I've been using B&D 18v power tools for 20+ years. Needless to say I have a lot of money invested in this product line and it's become nearly impossible to find 18v B&D batteries. Yes I can find after market products, but they just don't last. So for $15 bucks I can use the newest B&D 20v batteries, and I really don't need to buy an adapter for every device. So the heavily used ones each got an adapter, and the others simply share a couple spares I keep around. It's a simple price-of-convience investment model.

Upgrades your 18V B&D tools!
Had a weed wacker and a leaf blower which all the batteries died for, bought this adapter to use my 20V drill batteries for these and it works awesome. Weed wacker only lasts 10 minutes of constant wacking, but easy to change out battery and keep wacking it outside. Haven't tried to blow anything yet, although i've heard some models wont accept this battery adaptor, so we'll see if it will get the job done. I just left all of my wacking debris laying around to make the neighbors self-conscious of how awful their overgrown grass looks and how easy it is for me to wack my lawn. Hopefully i can get blown this afternoon with this adaptor fully locked and juicing up my tool!.

Great solution for upgrading tools
Great product great solution. Love that I don’t have to throw away perfectly good cordless tools and can upgrade them to 20 V. One thing you should know is that this adapter may increase the overall size when used with some battery packs. I have two tools that partially enclose the battery pack. it would not fit in one (vacuum) I was able to modify the other (leaf blower) tool to fit.Fits perfectly on the drill saws all and flashlight. If you’re buying lithium batteries to upgrade with this remember you have to have a separate charger for the LiIon batteries because you cannot charge them with the standard Black & Decker 18 V charger.

Worked well with the trimmer
I purchased this solely for the B & D 18v trimmer. All of my own tools are 20v, but when I go to my mother's house to cut her lawn, she has the 18v trimmer with a single battery that never holds a charge for more than a few minutes. She only has a 1/4 acre, so I told her to keep the small, but effective, trimmer and we'll figure something out. This was the answer. It works great. I can't say for sure how well the 20v batteries did, as far as longevity is concerned, as I don't know how charged they were when I left my house, but they worked like they were made for the trimmer. Easy to snap in and out and the adapter slid in and out of the trimmer's battery slot with ease. I'm glad I picked this up. It would have cost twice as much for a generic replacement 18v battery.

The Perfect Solution for Extending the Life of My Tools!
so yeah... 15 years ago or so I bought a pretty good collection of Black& Decker 18V Tools. I still have most of them, but over time, replaced some of them with with the newer 20V versions. And while you still can buy replacement 18V NiCad batteries, the 20V Lithium Ion batteries are MUCH better. They last longer, hold a charge longer, and are more powerful. There is one caveat. This adapter will not work with the tools that have an enclosed slot for the battery (such as the leaf blower). This is not a design defect of the adapter, but simply due to the fact that the 20V battery is a bit wider than the 18V battery. I may try doing surgery on my leaf blower to widen the slot. I think it will work.

Good idea, but won't work on all 18V Black & Decker tools
Caution, this will not work on all 18V Black & Decker tools. If the tool has a slot for the 18V battery this won't work because the 20V battery is slightly wider. I tried this adapter on a B&D cordless vacuum and on a 18V B&D cordless leaf blower, and it would not fit either tool. With the 20V battery mounted to the adapter the whole package would not fit into those two tools. I'm sure it will work fine on a drill where the battery hangs out in the open. Sadly, I'm returning. This seemed like the perfect solution to use the newer batteries on the older tools, but not so.

Saved me from replacing all my 18 volt tools
I have several of the older Black and Decker 18 volt tools that came with the two prong battery packs. My tools are the alligator lopper, the string trimmer, and the hedge trimmer.A couple of years ago Black And Decker added a third prong to the tools and batteries. Since I have the older tools, the newer batteries with three prongs will not plug into the tools. Since they no longer make the older batteries with two prongs and my old batteries no longer charge, I was looking at spending a lot of money to replace several perfectly good tools because I could no longer buy batteries for them.I also have a couple of the Black and Decker 20V Max drills. So I already had some batteries and chargers. This adapter let me use those newer batteries on my older tools. Most of my batteries were smaller capacity (1.5 AH) to use in drills instead of the lawn tools. They worked, but didn't last long enough. So I also purchased some larger capacity (3.5 AH) 20V Max batteries.
