So battery is to new to know how well it will work over time, but it did install and work perfectly on day one. Several weeks in and battery life has not changed much. For the price I thinknit is pretty good!

It works and it charges. So happy to have found product because I checked at big chain stores and they did not have the size I needed. UPDATE: The battery has stopped working after only 6 months. My computer says the batter needs to be changed. Not sure why it stopped working so soon since it states it was new.

*Update* Contacted by the vendor, apparently this battery is not designed for the 5580 Inspiron. Amazons algorithm brought this up for me even though it is in fact not listed in their description. My and Amazons bad. Updated to 5 stars for their customer service alone. They contact me asked for more info, and refunded me outside of the return window within a span of hours. Top. Notch.Battery would not hold a charge, never indicate it was charging when connected to power. Filed a return and received a replacement shortly after but the replacement would not charge either. Not holding my mouth right I guess???

I saw the negative reviews here but ignored them because the overall star rating was great. This battery did not come with instructions, just a tiny piece of paper the size of a business card, that bit of info was cryptic at best and not helpful to me ( a former computer tech from the 90’s). I found a few good YouTube videos that assisted with calibration and was ok for a few months. One day I turned the computer on and the battery would no fire up, I still had 35% charge left the day before. I plugged in but nothing happened, no light and nothing on the screen. I left it for a while but nothing changed. I’m just happy that this is not my main computer. I even took the battery out and re-inserted but nothing. So this battery had about a 6 month life span. Next battery will not be purchased on Amazon. Remember that almost anyone can start a store here but no one is required to provide support or assistance. Next time I will Pay more and buy from a trusted source.

this type of laptop battery is the simplest to replace as it just snaps in the back like a regular cell battery.holding charge much better than the old original battery anywaycan't comment on longevity but otherwise seems fine

I am giving the Battery a benefit of a doubt. I am computer illiterate but this battery did not charge enough in 12 hours for my laptop to turn on. After 48 hours I was about to go to my local computer guy for help the machine finally came on and booted up. It seemed to work for an hour then I noted the battery low symbel was on. I'm going to buy a new battery from some one else.
