Best disposal for the money
I considered buying one of InSinkErator's newer, quieter models. I opted for this one for several reasons: (1) Identical plumb-in dimensions to my existing model that finally broke after 14+ years (newer models are nearly identical, but not exact and I didn't have room or patience to re-do the P-trap if needed), (2) this is a full 1-HP with stainless steel grinder components, but for a much lower price than the high-end model, (3) I didn't need to pay for a "pretty" unit—once you install it, you never look at it again, and (4) most of the noise can be eliminated with a $5 plastic strainer, which I use to keep flatware out of the drain when washing up.The way the newer units eliminate much of the noise is to use a rubber splash guard designed to create a "water dam" to isolate the grinding chamber. Indeed, this is effective, but it causes what I call "floaties." It makes it more difficult to get food waste into the grinding chamber. I prefer to shove everything down there at once, put the strainer in place, and grind away. 5 maybe 10 seconds later, I'm done. A slightly louder unit is not a problem.By the way, one of my new hobbies is testing the unit's limits. I put just about anything I can down the drain. The only exceptions so far are: (1) egg shells, no point and can stick to plumbing, (2) onion skins, too thin to grind, (3) mango pit, it was ground down, but not all the way, (4) corn husks, just made a tangled mess, (5) banana peels, tangled mess, and (6) avocado skins, I guess it was like trying to grind leather. Meat scraps, poultry bones, citrus peels, and corn cobs are all game. It's enormously satisfying. If you're replacing an existing InSinkErator and using the existing installation hardware, do what I did: Use a spare scissor jack to lower the old unit and raise the new one into place. Makes installation a breeze.

Great Product - Very Pleased
The media could not be loaded. The house we moved into did not have a garbage disposal and we decided it was time to install one. After getting an outlet installed under the sink, I determined that I could do this myself. Got it done and did not have to pay for a plumber to install!Quality of materials (5/5): Yeah, pretty much the best you can get at this price point. I know I am paying (in part) for the name, but this company knows what they are doing.Installation (4/5): Included instructions are clear and have drawings - very well done. This was the 1st time I have done this and it wasn't a swap-out. That meant I could not look at a live example. And, I had to cut the PVC drain pipe (using a small hacksaw) to a shorter length to make room for the unit itself. In spite of these challenges, I got it done without too much hassle. It took 1 hour & 15 minutes from start to finish. I did not have a problem with the "snap ring" as other have mentioned. And getting the unit lifted was easy since I set it on a car jack from my car. That way, I only had to line it up and let the jack hold it in place. With a little bit of thought and the clear directions this is a pretty straightforward, DIY install. But if you feel better paying a professional, go ahead.Function 5/5: Perfect. Couldn't be better.Noise level (4/5): Check the video. It's not quietest, but I am pretty happy with it. I was afraid it was going to be obnoxious, but it's actually quite reasonable. With water running, it maxed out at 73dB. That is the same a normal conversation level. Again, check the video so you can see the actual dB measurement(s). As pleased as I am, I hate to rate it at 4/5. But there are quieter options out there, so I have to take that into account, I suppose.I connected the ClearMax 3 Ft Universal Garbage Disposal Power Supply Cord with some Wago-style connectors with 0 issues. It works perfectly.Overall, I will rate this 5/5 Stars. I'm very happy with it.

Sticking to Badger Disposal - great product!
We’re giving the product 5 stars for all categories. Although it took us some time to install, we didn’t think it deserved less than 5 stars because of our inexperience. Our first concern was the upgraded model we chose was too big for the space. After inquiring from Amazon help questions, we got answers. Helping us move forward with the upgrade from 1/3 hp to 1 hp.The instructions were spot on. Customer support was terrific. We were able to connect the cable connector (not included with order) from the prior Badger disposal. It was still in very good shape. We had to use a jack to lift the disposal to the sink flange. We were not strong enough to do it ourselves. The rubber was tight to pop it up. Once this was done, the rotating of the disposal to mounting ring was done with the wrenchette provided. The disposal was easily turned to align with dishwasher and tailpipe. We’ve taped the wrenchette to the disposal for easy access, if needed. The grinding is very low sounding, depending on what goes down the drain. We haven’t used it for bones of meat or fruits. Why don’t think it’s necessary as we can easily throw away large items in the garbage bin for pickup.

Powerful, SS Construction
The unit is powerful with stainless steel construction. It worked well. But at startup, it has such kick force. If not installed correctly, it could kick off for the sink flange. Mine did. I had to call in plumber to install another type Insinkerator unit (evolution excel). This 1hp unit was discarded.
