Battery life no where near to the 8 hours it advertises.More like 3 hours.Does what I need it to do.I just need to keep charging it all the time.**update**After little use it now randomly turns offEven after it has been fully chargedIt can run for 5 minutes or half an hour and just randomly turns off. You can turn it back on and it can run for another 5 mins or another 20 mins. You never know when it is going to turn off

A must have if you require portability for your amazon dot 3rd generation. Obviously it must have access to WiFi, so there are limitations, but it is very handy to take into a garden, bathroom or places without a convenient electrical socket. Very useful if you can't bend down to reach an electrical socket too, thinking my elderly parents and a blind friend, so they can disconnect from the mains and move to another room before recharging at original source. Hope that makes sense.Highly recommended.

Initially I was impressed with this unit because the sound quality was better than the wrap around dock I have on my upstairs Alexa, however that was short lived. After 10 - 15 mins it would cut out and I would have to push the button on the front and wait for it to reconnect to WiFi. I was in the process of returning it when it seemed to start working properly so just put it down to a glitch. Roll on 1 month and the issue has started again and it doesn't seem to be rectifying itself this time.It's a real pity because I bought this on the strength of the reviews on better sound quality, which it definitely has, bit this issue makes it worse than useless.

We like to listen to our echo dot in the bathroom but as with many bathrooms in the Uk, the only power comes from the shaver plug and it’s not recommended to use an adapter for general mains products on this.The battery pack here solves this issue and actually makes the 3rd generation echo dot far more flexible. Out of the box, it simply attaches to the echo dot by sliding it in, placing the plug into the power socket on the dot. The top arm keeps the dot firmly in place but the design also means that all the speaker and microphone areas are left uncovered to help keep sound and commands the same.It uses the round power socket of the echo dot, so no need for extra plugs, and it’s simply a case of sticking the plug in and watching the 4 leds on the front light up to show the battery level. Once charged you simply unplug and take it with you wherever you go in the house or even in the garden if your Wi-fi stretches that far.There is a power button on the front and you can use this to save the battery when not in use, but I prefer to leave it on charge on the shelf with the echo dot still on, so it’s used as a normal, plugged in dot while charging.Easy to use and makes the echo dot 3 portable, so highly recommend.

A problem with the first unit I received was quickly sorted out in a couple of days by Sylvie at GGMM customer service, excellent service and communication, thanks.Now for the unit itself-a great concept that works a treat, it feels pretty solid and there is no fiddly set up involved you just put in your dot turn it on and away you go. There is no diminished sound the volume and features are still controlled by the echo dot, the only thing on the battery base is an on/off switch and a battery indicator of 4 blue lights, it’s as simple as that but it makes your dot fully portable, as long as you have a wifi connection of course, as for play time I haven’t fully checked the run down time but i have played it for 5 hrs constant on volume 4 and it only dropped from 4 lights to 3 on the battery indicator. I’ll certainly be looking out for other products from this company. By the way this review is for the D3 plus.

This item allowed us to take one of our Echo Dots away from a power socket - nice for music next to the bath, or on a bistro table in the garden, for example. Very simple to use, literally just plug your Dot in to the chassis and it then runs on the battery when not mains powered.Now, we did have a problem with our unit that arose a short while ago, in that it started to get a little hot and generate 'coil whine'. I was concerned, so contacted the customer services, who I have to say were simply brilliant in handling this - within a matter of days, we had a replacement (and, I believe, slightly updated version) in our possession, swiftly dispatched to us with no hassle. This is an example of great customer service, and reassurance that you are buying a well supported product.New unit is every bit as good as the previous, no issues etc., and I believe has a larger battery as well!

This battery shuts the echo off within 10 minutes every time. It doesn't matter whether your using battery power or plugged into the mains, it just shuts down. Completely useless. What's worse is that, because it's considered a dangerous item by all couriers I've checked, you can't even return it (Amazon only gives you the option to send it yourself - they won't touch it with a barge pole). Not only a waste of money, but it was a Christmas present for someone else. Save yourself the money and hassle.

Only had this 24hrs and it’s already a game changer. Haven’t had a lot of use of it yet but I’ve had It plugged in overnight and I pulled it off mains around 12pm and it’s now 4:30pm and display shows full charge. (Not played constant music yet) but giving the freedom to take Alexa anywhere is great, our lounge is quite large and there’s only 2 free sockets which are away from the tv area, if we talk to Alexa from the sofa we usually have to shout, not anymore! And can return her to charge overnight. Can’t wait to take her in the garden for music!
